ive a spare one but i think its probably a bit far?
How much you looking to spend ? I have a full Hannibal, with Tourer Kit I am always tempted to sell.
Theres not a lot for sale second hand, no idea what the value is really, but don't want to spend mega bucks...
TBH they hold their value and they are one of the best tents you can buy. So for that reason you would need to part with about 1300 to pick up a decent second hand one with the full tourer kit. I have seen the odd just tent go for 600-900 but not very often.

I did manage to pick up a full length roof rack for £40 the other day!
Hell, what a bargain!
Just need to find a use for it now...

Nah leeds near me, they are a fortune, hard to justify when you can get a tent fairly cheap these days!

ah, there was a roof rack near me that I wanted to get, the auction ended on ebay and no one bought it, so I messaged them but they had sold it to someone already.
Yeh roof tents a way too expensive for what they are, what makes them any different to a normal tent apart from a a wooden floor?

I had thought of putting a 2 man pop up tent on the roof, which I have seen done... but not sure if you end up with the worst of everything - cramped, hard to get in and out (especially the 3am wee!!), unable to stand up, have to sleep in the car park - fine if it's level, increased vehicle height - added ferry cost/poor clearance off road...needs a ladder...

I think I have decided not to bother with a roof tent myself....What makes them different, the fact they fold and collapse, the fact they have breathable ripstop Oxford canvas (if you are lucky), nice materess, mosquito vents/zips, waterproof cover....also the fact they can withstand a hell of a lot of wind....

Don't most tents come like that though, apart from the mattress?
90 percent of tents (the ones you guys are thinking of) are not Canvas.... For a quality canvas ground tent you can easily shell out 1000 so you are comparing apples with oranges if you are thinking a 200-400 quid Outwell tent is in anything like the same league.
The folding mechanism is really quite ingenious and something normal tents wouldn't have. along with the ability to be only 50 percent supported and stable. The vents/zips and covers yes pretty much the same as on a higher quality canvas tent.

Hey ER1C have you checked these guys, I was impressed with their stand at the Stratford Overland Show... and a few exhibitors were using these annexes too... about half the price of a roof tent, although they do them too?

That's pretty much the same as the base of the tourer kit... Its great, but you still need a bed etc etc, where do you put those when travelling ? and where when relaxing. I don't want to sound like a rooftent seller
But we use the tourer kit when away, sit in, eat relax, then pop up to bed. Essential as when its peeing it down as it so often does in the UK you have areas to relax in dry clothes and then go to bed.
Each to their own really I like the ability to get in the back of the landrover, and up to bed and not see the light of day.
