It will now cruise at 60 - all I did was re set the valve clearence! It would go faster than 50 but sounded like it was going to explode above that. Some of the gaps where over 2mm. It now sounds like a different engine and much better.

Could this be done by turning the crank until the rocker arms are at the top of their movement then setting the gap that way?

It's all back together and iv been driving it today. They all lift smothly but something is different when driving - sounds a bit different. Edit. Tappers not set yet I'm just waiting for feeler gauges to arrive.

This is how the pushrods ended up looking And the snapped rocker... Looking at the pics would you recon a valve could have been damaged? Would you recommend removing the head and checking? Cheers.

Well I adjusted the new rocker arm and it now runs great! I can't believe the difference it made. While looking at the other rockers there is a bit of a gap on them all when the crank is turned and the rocker arm is at it's highest point is this normal? Iv got a set of feeler gauges on the way...

Hi lynall - I pulled the dipstick out and stuck my thumb over the end and it's not blowing or sucking. I can't feel anything to be honest. Does that mean the bores are ok and it's not breathing past them? Cheers.

All back together now and running better, it was the valve clearence on the new rocker - it was out. I can't believe how tough theese 200 tdi engines are! I also can't believe how I can hate something and also love it to bits at the same time LOL!

Thank you boguing is that how rockers snap? when the piston hits the valve and pushes the rocker up - causeing the rocker arm to be pushed up by the valve and the pushrod at the same time? Cheers tom.

Is their any way the pistons can touch the valves when the belt snaps on a 200 tdi?
