    Speedo Drive

More news! After going to work on the landy today I was supprised to find the fault causing the speedo to fail. When I bought the landy it came with it's old "faulty" speedo.....Turns out the old speedo is working fine and it was the fault I just found causing the trouble all along.... The...

    Speedo Drive

If anybody has the same trouble I have had, the small gear/shaft can be cheaply replaced on the G'box, should be able to do it without removing the prop and brake drum. Cost me £4 for a new one and £5 for a half speedo cable at Devon 4x4. Excellent advice at Devon 4x4 and prices so I recomend them.

    Speedo Drive

My speedo failed a while back on my 84 90CSW, today I took the dash off and found that the connection of the speedo just pops on... I drove the landy and proved the cable was not turning. I took the cable out of the box connection and turned it manually and it's ok. I checked the shaft in the...

    Transfer box

"That's a very closely related issue, if the vehicle isn't up to the job then it shouldn't be driven at or beyond its limits" That was the point I made, without being modded a landie should not be used at 100 MPH!!!!! "Road biased tyres putting down lots of rubber (separate set for serious off...

    Transfer box

Oh here we go! Never said that, I said Landies were never built to go 100MPH. " my bikes can achieve 140MPH but I have never been anywhere near this silly figure." Whats bikes got to do with landies.....? My bike will do 100 MPH plus and it's safe doing it, the Landie is not! "Likewise I...

100MPH in a landy? I suggest having a word with Bowler unless you have a death wish..... If I do 60 in mine and have to go round a corner I start bricking it!! 1984 CSW, no anti roll bars on mine and skinny off road tyres....

90 Shudders just before wheels stop

Had a good look around today and am beginning to suspect a draging wheel brake, if I coast to a stop out of gear without touching the brake the judder seems to be gone. I'll have to jack it up and test for a binding brake I think.

help pls! gearbox v's handbrake battle

I would now think about rear diff or rear half shafts as mentioned already. If you can drive it with the handbrake on then there can't be any connection between the transfer box and the rear wheels giving you front wheel drive only through the transfer box diff.

help pls! gearbox v's handbrake battle

Trying to decode your question, it may be that you are not getting the diff lever fully into position and it is "jumping" out of gear in the transfer box?? If that is the case try putting it into 1st (with the engine running) and while gently pushing the high/low lever lift the clutch a little...

    Hi,I'm new and need help!

If it's under warrenty take it back and insist they do more to find the fault, if they refuse start writing letters, give them 28 days to sort it out, if they still do nothing tell them you will have it fixed by a "pro" garage and recover ALL costs involved off of them including all the time you...

90 Shudders just before wheels stop

Only does it "just" before stopping, not any other time. In gear or out without using the brakes. It freewheels ok as well. My local garage bloke drove it and said it was ok (X main dealer bloke) so I was not worried but it does bug my as to why it does this?

90 Shudders just before wheels stop

Another Q!:) My 90 runs fine but just before I stop there is a shudder from somewhere, tried in gear/out of gear same thing. Is this a Landy trait or do I need to look at summit? It's all serviced up with clean oils in G/box, transfer and back/front diffs. The back diff was low on oil for a...

Anybody driving a SWB 90 with a ford 2.5 Transit engine?

Hi, sounds good but will depend on price and where you are? North Devon ain't close to, well anywhere really! You may be able to answer my question about the fuel and exaust system, will u be ditching the electric pump on yours? No-one can tell me if the diesel and petrol pumps are the same...
