If anybody has the same trouble I have had, the small gear/shaft can be cheaply replaced on the G'box, should be able to do it without removing the prop and brake drum. Cost me £4 for a new one and £5 for a half speedo cable at Devon 4x4. Excellent advice at Devon 4x4 and prices so I recomend them.

Had a good look around today and am beginning to suspect a draging wheel brake, if I coast to a stop out of gear without touching the brake the judder seems to be gone. I'll have to jack it up and test for a binding brake I think.

I would now think about rear diff or rear half shafts as mentioned already. If you can drive it with the handbrake on then there can't be any connection between the transfer box and the rear wheels giving you front wheel drive only through the transfer box diff.

Trying to decode your question, it may be that you are not getting the diff lever fully into position and it is "jumping" out of gear in the transfer box?? If that is the case try putting it into 1st (with the engine running) and while gently pushing the high/low lever lift the clutch a little...

If it's under warrenty take it back and insist they do more to find the fault, if they refuse start writing letters, give them 28 days to sort it out, if they still do nothing tell them you will have it fixed by a "pro" garage and recover ALL costs involved off of them including all the time you...

It's got the 365 degree all terrains running at 250 psi cold. Ten stud version! :D

Only does it "just" before stopping, not any other time. In gear or out without using the brakes. It freewheels ok as well. My local garage bloke drove it and said it was ok (X main dealer bloke) so I was not worried but it does bug my as to why it does this?

Funny you should say that, other people are saying the Transit lump has little low down torque????? All depends on who I speak too! Anybody know if the petrol pump on my petrol landy is the same as the diesel one?? I suppose the filter would be different.....
