Another Q!:)
My 90 runs fine but just before I stop there is a shudder from somewhere, tried in gear/out of gear same thing. Is this a Landy trait or do I need to look at summit? It's all serviced up with clean oils in G/box, transfer and back/front diffs. The back diff was low on oil for a while, not dry, due to the seal failing but there was no apparant damage there. Any ideas? Usefull ones that is!

Not 100% sure but its prob something to do with either the transmission or brakes. maybe your props, Uj's are worn. could be a steering component vibrating under force. do you get it when you turn hard? i doubt the problem stems from your diffs.

hopefully some more experienced help will be at hand shortly, or more likely tomorrow :)

Only does it "just" before stopping, not any other time. In gear or out without using the brakes. It freewheels ok as well.
My local garage bloke drove it and said it was ok (X main dealer bloke) so I was not worried but it does bug my as to why it does this?

This may be a silly question but does it seem to do it after you have taken your foot off the throttle because I used to have a landy which used to try to stall when ya been driving and taken ya foot off the throttle it was down to that it made the landy shudder. If it was when ya pressed the brakes it would be ya discs or drums which was polished but you say its not brakes...

It's got the 365 degree all terrains running at 250 psi cold. Ten stud version! :D

It is the handbrake adjustment. Grunt is right. If your handbrake is too tight then you will get this effect as you slow down. Not a problem.
bollocks!! that is only one of many things that could cause it. why do people do this? just cause that wur the cause when it happened to them dunt mean that it will be the cause on another vehicle or indeed the next time they encounter the problem. it may be yer handbrake but don't discount any of the other options just yet

As a professional Land Rover mechanic, I have fixed this problem many times. It is one of those things that cause us to smile at each other every time an owner complains.

Maybe you should try smiling occasionally, you seem to be suffering from sense of humour failure.

OH NO NOT one of them landy owners who dont smile and wave when waved at.........ARE YOU A GRUMPY OLD FARMER? :D

Had a good look around today and am beginning to suspect a draging wheel brake, if I coast to a stop out of gear without touching the brake the judder seems to be gone. I'll have to jack it up and test for a binding brake I think.

ooooooo! so you as a professional landrover mechanic are saying that nothing else will cause this to happen?

aye you might be right but that dunt mean you'd be right the next time the problem comes along.. i know of one person that posted on a forum that they had a miss-fire.
straight away someone jumps in wiff "' i had a misfire last yer and it was the HG so your HG has gone and needs replacing. you also need to have your head re-surfaced to ensure its level"
bloke books his car in to get HG and head done. lucky fer him the garage was honest and reconnected a little wire under the inlet manifold.

in this case the hand brake may be the most common cause but as i've said not the only one.

The best advice is to look for the simple and cheap things first. Eg if your engine won't go, is there any fuel in the tank, no matter what the gauge says? Or has the HT lead fallen off the coil? Any adjustments should be tried before changing anything.

We had a Disco II owner in complaining that his windscreen washer didn't work. I filled it up and charged him 30 mins labour for being a **** :)
