As a matter of getting the job done, you could sacrifice the front U/J in order to remove the prop. They aren't that expensive and it would be worth replacing both at the same time anyway. If you have a vice and a few other basic hand tools you could have a go at replacing them yourself.

Yeah, don't fuss over the weights, just stick a chassis number on it and get an MOT :)

What do you mean by "cover off"? You could stamp the weights on to the new plate or just the chassis number.

What about if all the fins have fallen off?

If they are new then yes, they are molded as one piece, a well executed tickle with a hammer usually sorts it. As long as you got your parts on, that's all that matters!

No, you put the rivet in with the pin sticking out as shown, then you puch the pin in flush which enlarges the flaps on the rivet to hold it in place.

How course is course? Anything more than orange peel suggests dirt/reaction/vapor pores. Many things can influence it at the application stage, ambient temperature, panel temperature, paint temperature, airline temperature, ambient air moisture, airline moisture, humidity, ventilation...

As above, diamond shaped plate with 2 bolts, mounted on the vertical face behind the sump. Pretty sure it's the bigger bolt hole it goes in. That kit looks to have the right type of pins, hard to gauge size but if it was me I'd get it. Pretty sure my mates one is Sealey, so probably same kit.

Up until about 6 weeks ago I was a slit disc away from making a double cab pickup, with a decent size bed. I'm not keen on the ones where they just chop the back out, reminds me too much of a Vauxhall Frontera :eek:

Must be some wires getting jiggy with it around the steering column area, expose the wiring and inspect for chafing etc.

That's the best way, learn on the job and get even more enjoyment out of it!

Got a N reg 300tdi Disco that has electrical issues, but not like anything that has been seen before... This is not so much a cry for help as I will figure it out and get it sorted but I thought it might be useful to share my findings and discuss with others as this might help some one...
