Freelander 1 Parking Aid or Reverse sensors

If you turn the ignition on (don't start the engine though), put it in reverse and listen real close to each sensor you should hear a rapid high pitch clicking noise from each sensor if they are all working. You need the background noise to be quite low (or have the hearing of a pre-teen or bat)...

    Cabin blower!!

If its a Freelander 1 then the screen air is ducted off either side of the heater assembly from quite low down (don't know about the 2 but I guess similar) so one right and one left. The ducts rise up either side of the heater assembly to the underside of the dash at the windscreen where they...

    Door window issues

If you have power going to the switch and everything works if you apply power directly to the motor then it's pretty certain its the switch. You can pick up the entire arm rest cluster used for £ 27.95 here (...

    Freelander 1 Coolant Flush

So I'm going to drain and refill the coolant this weekend (should have done it months ago!!) and reading RAVE it says "Flush the system with water under low pressure. Do not use water under high pressure as it could damage the radiator". Now on previous cars I've owned I usually drain the...

    Door window issues

So if I've understood you correctly you have a circuit (at least from switch to motor) but no power? As you know the motor and regulator work the problem is going to be in one of the components or the wiring (stating the obvious I know!) so you need to work back from the motor checking you have...

    Freelander 1 Wiper action/Clutch Pedal

You can get little clips that go around the ball joint to hold them together. It's not a permanent fix but will get you through the MOT. fritz

    How to drop rear glass

Disconnect the battery for a minute or two. When you reconnect the glass should drop. Also if you have the card off can you not undo the lower fixings of the regulator? That should you allow to gently tip the glass inwards to get the door open. Much easier to work on with the door open. fritz

    SPEEDO

Hmmm...not sure if serious? Think about how gears work - you can't do 60 mph in first and you can't pull away in 5th. 2000 r.p.m in 1st = about 12 mph 2000 r.p.m. in 2nd = about 20 mph 2000 r.p.m. in 3rd = about 30 mph And so on and so forth. The higher the gear the more equal the movement...

Freelander 1 Failed MOT :( - Some Advice Please (Lower front wishbone arm)

Just wanted to update you all. Had the work done and thus passed on the retest. I did unfortunately get an advisory "Clutch pedal has a heavy feel to it" which they could look into for me if I wanted. So I asked if the clutch was part of the MOT and the answer was "I'm no good at cars but I'm...

Freelander 1 Some Questions about "B" service

Hi all, Service time and skint as usual so doing it myself following the attached check sheet but I have a few questions if I may. The vehicle has a full service history with Jag/ LR Main Dealers or Approved Specialists. Last service at 88 k miles is ticked as "Oil Service" only. Last "A"...

Freelander 1 Failed MOT :( - Some Advice Please (Lower front wishbone arm)

Yep there seems to be a bit of a grey area about failed MOT with a current one still live. The .gov site says I can use it up to the 6th April but shrouds it in caveats. I even tried Surrey Police and they couldn't give me anything definitive. They basically said if I'm stopped then the...

Freelander 1 Failed MOT :( - Some Advice Please (Lower front wishbone arm)

Hey thanks for the quick replies. I stopped at my mates on the way home from work. He pretty much said what you guys posted. So for the ball joints (dust covers only) + cv boot 3 hours labour + £ 15 for parts. So that's about £ 135 all in. A little better than £ 540. One thing though. He...
