Freelander 1 Wiper action/Clutch Pedal

Hi Guys (and Gals)

Just a quick question(as they all seem to be)...was driving home from work yesterday in heavy rain...perfect Scottish summer weather...when the wipers were working, If I depressed the clutch I could feel the wiper hitting it's stop through the clutch pedal. Is this normal (never noticed it before) and is it an indication of the 'End of Days'/Global catastrophe and finally does it require 'fixing'???

Such a weird title I had to read it!! There is no way I know of that the wiper mech can physically impact the clutch pedal or master cylinder BUT they are not very far apart amd it suggests to me a very worn joint in the wiper mech. This may be vibrating and felt in clutch ??!? Wild guess but I would lift off the plastic under screen scuttle and check all wiper mech joints. They do wear out and when they fail you lose one or both wipers. Not ideal in uk let alone bonny land! Hope that helps.

What Andy said. The ball joints in the wiper are worn, and the vibration caused is simply traveling through the bulkhead to the clutch pedal.

You can get little clips that go around the ball joint to hold them together.

It's not a permanent fix but will get you through the MOT.

That reminds me. I need to order a new linkage, as I put the clips on 3 years ago, and they're still holding the linkage together now.
