Whilst the wind and rain lash down outside my windscreen started to mist up, put the fan to position 2, aircon on, only the passenger side was clearing, pulled over and had a feel near bottom of windscreen, yep, only blowing out of the passenger side, I take it the drivers side either has a blockage or isn’t connected (I don’t know how this system works). Does anyone know what could be the problem?

If its a Freelander 1 then the screen air is ducted off either side of the heater assembly from quite low down (don't know about the 2 but I guess similar) so one right and one left.
The ducts rise up either side of the heater assembly to the underside of the dash at the windscreen where they connect to the diffusers.
The rest of this is mainly from memory looking at the ducts in passing while doing something else and also some supposition.
I think the only place the ducts could be disconnected is directly off the heater assembly or where they connect to the diffusers which to me sounds unlikely as they would need to be seriously out of alignment to get no air flow. Try max fan speed to see if you get any air at all.
The control flap in the heater assembly (I think) is common to both sides (as in there is a single damper that diverts air to both sides simultaneously). May be that's made in two halves and one has come loose but I'm guessing there.
Anyway to me it so far says blockage (presumably only from the top - diffuser end) so you best hope that you can see something (not easy I know) and remove it from above.
Other than that I don't think that you can get to any of this without removing the entire dash.
That's not exactly easy but also not so difficult as you may think. Just that there are an awful lot of connections and you need to remember exactly what connects to what.

SOLVED!! It was a ‘air feed direction pipe’(?) that comes from the main box near driver’s feet to up under the dash, adopted the veto’s hand/arm up a cow’s rear passage approach and found it had slipped, gave it a wiggle and a shove and its in, window de-misting both sides now, result, cheers fellas (and fellettes)!
