What did you do with your Range Rover today

Spent a second day diagnosing lack of cruise control ( went intermittent a year or so ago, died completely 8 months ir so ago). Passed all ETM tests so points to ECU. Resoldered caps on PCB on 2 spare ones from eBay but still no joy. Guess they may be faulty too. Now looking to to do conversion...

    P38 1 - bungalow 0

oh yes...didn't spot that - I was fondly hoping it might have been able to be reversed out and driven off!

    P38 1 - bungalow 0

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-36791942 can't really see the front of the car, but certainly looks like it fared better than the wall!

    Looking for new mats

You may find some nice original colour-coded ones on eBay. They are very hard wearing (mine have lasted 260k miles), fit perfectly and have a rubberised base. Good luck! Stephen

Cost to change....have an educated guess!

so before all the other running costs, a new RR is £12,500 + cost of capital (interest, or foregone interest) per year. That's eye watering! Makes me feel quite sanguine about the costs of running my P38! Steve

    Engine disabled

Not in a position to comment on the second eBay link, but the first one is the eBay outlet for Fews, my local Land Rover main dealer. I bought an updated RF receiver from them a year or so ago. Expensive, but less expensive than continually replacing front door locks. My trials and tribulations...

    16.8mpg from a P38?? Hmmm....

Thanks for this thread - it is making me feel a whole lot better about running a 4.6 V8 lol

    MPG on LPG

I get about 13 mpg on LPG and about 16 mpg on petrol with a single point system on at 4.6 GEMS. I think I still save money using LPG and use it mostof the time. But, it's true, LPG isn't as attractive as it was, the proportionate price differential with petrol having been reduced in the UK since...

    Airbag Dilema

This a common fault when the battery is iffy. It often triggers as the car is started and the battery volts dragged lower still by the starter motor. The continuity of the SRS circuitry is checked by measuring voltage across a high value resistor. If the battery volts are low, then the voltage...

    lpg vs diesel

£70 to fill up for 300 miles on a 4.6 (that's for 100l typical fill of my 135l tank)

Diesel or V8/LPG, that is the question...

As a long time 4.6 LPG conversion user, I think you have probably arrived at the right answer with the priorities that you have. Although, my LPG set up has not been any trouble, it can have consequences for servicing, choice of insurer, Channel Tunnel etc. While GB was chancellor/prime...

    c/l problem

I've just fitted a new type one after years of recurring door latch motor burnouts and flat batteries. So far, so good,,, and much better range. It was expensive but far less than the amount I've spent on front door latches. Early days yet, butkeeping fingers crossed. Steve

Have you ever broken a diff?

my front 2 pin locked solid in slow traffic on M4 at ~160k. It locked so quickly that I didn't even have time to get across to the hard shoulder. Police couldn't shift it an inch with their 4x4. The RAC guy came and undid the propshafts (thinking it was the gearbox) - of course it still didn't...

P38 Internal door handles - Oops.

removing the latch IS fiddly. It IS possible though. After swapping latches more than 10 times (door lock actuator probs), I'm a dab hand now. But the first time, you wonder if it is possible.... Good luck - you'll manage it eventually!

P38 Internal door handles - Oops.

sorry to hear it wasn't the very easy fix. You're right though, changing the cable isn't a difficult job - door card off, easy with the door foam...

P38 Internal door handles - Oops.

the l-shaped metal connector at the internal door handle end of mine has popped out of its receptor on the door handle a few times when a heavy-handed passenger has yanked at the handle from the inside. It is worth checking this first as it's an easy fix. To check, take the internal door handle...

Maybe an answer for all the queations about LPG

Has anyone actually managed to get reduced road tax or congestion charge for their LPGA certified Range Rover? It didn't do anything for me... my V5 states for type of fuel 'PETROL/GAS'

Starter Motor (Poor Starting) - Clean or Replace

SandyT makes a good point. The connection to the solenoid is prone to corrosion and voltage loss. I had the symptoms of difficult re-starting. Sometimes if I came back 30 minutes later, the starter would operate. I ordered and received a new starter, but before fitting it, cleaning the solenoid...
