I did a nice drive with my new acquisition P38 4.0 1997 it ran great for about 1500 miles to italy. then at some stage it in the alps it started to loose power above 3000 rpms as if there was not enough air or petrol.
symptoms (Dr House style)
- started great
- Idle is good
- Accelation normal up to 3000 rpms
- No noise in the engine
- No smoke
- No Bubbles in the coolant
Suspects
- MAF I have a SAGEM (connector OK)
- Hot leads ( no sparks in the dark
- coils (if it was Coil I would have expected troubles below 3000 too, it just perfect in low rev)
- Petrol pump pressure (I have no device to mesure petrol pressure in injection pipe)
- throttle position potentiometre
-O2 sensor
....
