    Mondo / 2 WD

No point in having a four by four if you cripple it into permanent 2wd. May as well buy a Ford Focus.

Freelander 1 Aux belt snapped. Will not start. Is it dead?

Mine started and ran fine with a snapped belt. Not recommended for long though as the aux belt drives the water pump on the td4.

HELP NEEDED - MY LANDY IS DYING ON ME

Like I said, you need to check the transmission before throwing any money anywhere. Go out and look under it right now. Does it have a propshaft? On the underside you will see the exhaust and next to it a straight bit of tube, usually black, that comes out the back of the gearbox and runs down...

HELP NEEDED - MY LANDY IS DYING ON ME

Sorry, but...... Its not dangerous. Its just sh1t. Its the buyers responsibility to verify the car is as described. If the seller deliberately mis-described the car you might have recourse, but proving this is practically impossible and always degenerates into a he said she said stalemate...

Do I need to pull the slave cylinder out????? [SOLVED]

Dunno. The height of the engine plus anything you put under the engine. I would take a wild guess and say the bottom of the bumper was about the height of my nuts, and Im not a very tall person. I had the front up on axle stands as normal, undid everything, took the weight of the engine on my...

Do I need to pull the slave cylinder out????? [SOLVED]

I did it without ramps, but you will need a proper engine hoist, axle stands and various blocks of wood. The Getrag box weighs a hell of a lot and there was no way I was going to be able to lift it in and out on my own. Lying under the car with a gearbox on my chest and bench-pressing it up...

Do I need to pull the slave cylinder out????? [SOLVED]

Its easier to drop the whole engine, gearbox and IRD out the bottom in one unit. All the stuff that needs disconnected / removed to drop the gearbox alone is 95% of whats holding the whole engine in place, so ten more minutes work drops the whole lot out. The advantage is it is MUCH easier to...

    Help needed

The captive nut will have broken off inside the box section. The subframe will need removed to get access. Personally, I would just drive it as is - if it doesnt rattle, then fine. If it does or works loose I would fix it.

And another thing - do you know for absolute certain that this garage is trustworthy?
