Rear brake and night lights nothing working

Confused now. Is it the normal rear lights that are not working?

Rear brake and night lights nothing working

No mate, it’s the rear brake light switch, it’s located above the brake pedal, bit awkward to get off and replace. I found it easier to get back in if you clean the bits of plastic out of the grooves and hold it in an adjustable while you push and twist. Google Freelander 1 rear brake light...

What have you done to your Freelander today

For the last week or so I have noticed a lack of posts from Freelander 1 owners. Now the reason for this could be one of two things, 1) They have no problems and they are out and about driving. 2) The bugger has broken down again and they are desperately trying to get it started and they don’t...

    No propshaft on freelander

You tried 7 insurance companies, 7? Have you heard the expression, Don’t try to bull**** a bull****ter? Check out this site, one guy insured a 2wd 2001 1.8GS manual with Adrian Flux ( modified car insurance) his premium was £282, which was £75 cheaper. I informed my insurance company who told me...

    No propshaft on freelander

Since taking my drive shaft off to replace VCU bearings, I have noticed a big difference in fuel economy. People say it makes no difference, I can assure you it does. Never had any wheel spin at all, the only driving difference I have noticed is that there is a bit of drift on bigger bends. I...

Is it because it’s not an MP3 player? Put your music on an MP3 player which plugs into fag lighter and transmits to your radio.

    Another one

Have you cleaned the non return valve? It is located in engine compartment where the washer tube comes out of the taped section. Follow the tube down from the top where it goes through the bonnet, it’s a little black plastic thing. Mine was full of black particles that had blocked the spring and...

Freelander 1 Another rear tailgate issue...

You will also need a towing relay. This lights up a little green trailer on the dash when you indicate to show that all is well with the light set up. I got mine out of an old Freelander at the scrappies that had a tow bar fitted.

    front washer system

The access panel in the wheel arch is totally useless if you are trying to access your washer pump. You have to undo some of the screws holding the wheel arch and pull it back. There are two pumps on the bottle, the nearest one is the front washer pump. Before you do this, go into the engine...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Got round to breaking the prop shaft to replace vcu support bearings. Back shaft took 5 minutes, the front shaft was a sod and it was only when I realised I needed a bigger hammer that I got it off. WD40 on the bearings and will give them a go tomorrow.

    My new Landy Bruce

You might get away without cutting anything, but if the box has been on a long time, it will be stuck.

    My new Landy Bruce

Pretty easy job. I had to use angle grinder to cut the clamp that held it to the exhaust as it was rusted away, then had to carefully cut a slot on the back box pipe that fitted over the exhaust pipe, then opened that slot with big screwdriver, remove the hanging rubbers and twist back box off.

Freelander 1 It paid off !!

PS the poly bush fits all three diff supports. Rule of thumb :- the larger part of poly bushes all face the diff. Cut out old rubber insert with a hole cutter, angle grind down to bracket, join cuts with hacksaw. Lightly sand the edges of poly bush and apply a drop of silicon grease. I pushed...
