Arctic... What is that stuffed up the end!?!? If you don't mind me asking? In the exhaust port? Neat blocker.

It was an old part of a T bar which i added a bolt through with a washer then ground it off, also some liquid metal, it worked out good i have used metal shims in the past also.

On diesels the MOT only tests for how much smoke it chucks out, not emissions.
Both my Td4's with disabled EGR's passed their MOT in past couple of weeks with readings below 0.3 on the opacity test, the fast pass limit being 1.5 and fail limit 3.0.

Thanks all, well she now has a new valve fitted so we will see Friday how she fairs on the MOT.
Must admit, she did run far better with the EGR delete on, so it may well go back on at some point.

The EGR valve function isn't part of the MOT test. It's just a visual inspection, so they can see it's still fitted.
Many people simply block the vacuum pipe to it, preventing it from actually working.

It opens under vacuum and send exhaust gas back around the turbine into the engine.
You find it on the right had side of the engine, very visible, round and has a vacuum pipe.

WTF is an EGR valve!

Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. It's an emission dodad that reduces NOX emissions by feeding CO2 (from the exhaust) back into the inlet. It also fills the inlet tract with black goop, which stops the engine running properly.
