    Snow Chains

When there is a heavy snow fall the Gendarme will be at the bottom of the hill checking you have snow chains whether its a 4x4 or 2x4. A sign will normally be displayed telling you snow chains required. One other point I would mention for peoples personal safety is Tires on 4x4 marked M&S are...

    Jack and axle stand capacity

I have left mine parked up from the 12th Dec to around 20th March over several years. Never used axle stands or anything. Never had a problem with the tires until they became old and needed replacing anyway.

Is it possible to remove the heater matrix in situ?

That's what I did to mine about two years ago and its still fine. I did pop rivet the metal back in place so it looks like it hasn't been touched.

Someone much smarter than I will come on here who will be in the know. But personally I would change the oil at least once a year regardless of what mileage I had done. Condensation in the oil etc

    road tyres for steel rims

You don't mention the age or if the 7.50/16 rims you have are original type ones. Are they tubeless or with inner tubes? I had original 7.50 steel wheels with inner tubes. Had to change the wheels to ones that could accommodate tubeless tires.

    Defender buying

I have had a 110 for about 9 years now. I sometimes dream of having something like a Discovery with warm heaters but as soon as I get out in the 110 the dream goes. I go shooting and carry dogs. I wouldn't want to do it in a nice clean Discovery. Plus if anything does go wrong with the 110 they...

How do I get more power!

I'm no expert here but haven't heard of changing the injectors. But have heard about chipping. I also have a Motor Home and quiet a lot of people chip their Camper vans quiet successfully. My Defender passed the control technic ( MOT)

Thanks for the encouragement. Anything to do with paperwork in France is a disaster. I organised my UK pension over the internet from France with two emails, all done within three days. The French one took 10 months. lost count how many emails and letters and phone calls. On one occasion I rang...

Cream in oil cap - TD5 defender 10p

I'm no expert here and don't wish to alarm you unnecessarily but my 200 tdi for several months only does short trips to the next village and back which is 2 kilometers each way and I don't have any creaming on my oil cap. It could be just condensation in the engine each morning. I would take it...

    Whining when accelerating defender td5

When you say the whining still happens when not in gear is that when you are stationary or when you are on the move and in neutral? Remember the transfer box is still turning when on the move and in neutral. These questions will help the more knowledgeable when they come on.
