I think the washers inside the injector can be different thicknesses and are swapped around to set the needle lift (pop) pressure. If that is correct and you don't know what was in there to start with then it may be worth sending it off to get it set up correctly

If it's in good physical condition and it measures in spec then is there really anything to be gained by replacing it with a new (but unproven) one after all it is just two lumps of metal at the end of the day so not much to go wrong?

Try rolling the valve stem on a flat surface with the head overlapping the edge, you should see any wobble on the valve head

If you are that worried you could always remove all the gubbins from the shaft and roll the shaft on a flat surface to satisfy your mind.

I would suggest that you put the pulley on the shaft and see it there is any up / down and side to side movement of the pulley on the shaft. If there is then there is a good chance the pulley will run slightly off centre and that will cause aux belt tension to pulse which may end up causing...

Take the rocker shaft and rockers off so that all valves are closed at the same time to carry out a comparison

Just to clarify, what I said was that the timing needs to be correct for a compression test to work properly (on any engine) otherwise the valves would open / close at the wrong time so you would get an incorrect reading. Also said that timing looks ok from your pictures. One other possible...
