    Exhaust Route on 2.5 N/A defender 90 1986 pickup

Yep, that's exactly what I had to do on my '86 90.

    New tank fitted!

Couple of tips which might help, put two axle stands under the old tank so it doesn't fall on you! And use a trolley jack with a piece of wood on it to support the new one while you fit the bolts - back 2 first, then jack it up into place and fit the new bracket with the 3 bolts, if you are...

    New tank fitted!

There is no better feeling than spending three days ripping out a rusty old leaking fuel tank and fitting a nice shiny new one to find it starts first time! Happy days:D:D:D:D I was warned it would be a filthy, pig of a job. The worst part was trying to get the 3 bolts off the front bracket...

Heater blowing cold and Temp Gauge showing hot = Thermostat gone?

Thanks guys. I've got the cambelt to change too but I wasn't going to do that yet. However, to save time it looks like it'll be new fanbelt, thermostat and cambelt all in one go:( What joy! Cheers

Heater blowing cold and Temp Gauge showing hot = Thermostat gone?

Hi All Hopefully a simple answer to this one. The heater hasn't worked properly on my 90 since I bought it a month ago and it's on my ever-growing list of things to sort out. However, yesterday whilst out driving I noticed the temperature gauge was up in the red! Daft question, and before I...

    What doors should I have?

Thanks for the tip, tried it but the ignition key won't fit. I've bought a full set of new barrels/keys for all three doors, so hopefully that'll be the end of my problems - famous last words!

    What doors should I have?

The only key that came with the 90 does fit the lock, but doesn't turn it. So hopefully that'll do the job of "pulling" the barrel out. Nice little job for the weekend! Thanks again chaps.

    What doors should I have?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes it is a C reg, 1985. So I guess someone has swapped the doors for push-button then:)

    What doors should I have?

From the picture below you can (just about I think!) see my recently acquired 90 has push button handles on the front doors but a lift-up handle on the rear. If you can't see it, take my word, it has! I have read a number of posts on this forum where owners of similar 90's of this age have...

No heater controls - is it an easy refit?

No, I've got nothing. I took the dashboard off and on the left side revealed only the speedo and a gap to the left of that where I guess the heater control should be:confused:

No heater controls - is it an easy refit?

Only had the 90 two days and am on 2nd post already:) Having identified the absence of a heater/blower switch on the left side of the dashboard (I took the dash off to double-check and it's definitely not there) I guess I need to buy one! Part number STC4848 I believe (the previous owner did...

Wiper problem - only half the screen wiped!

Thanks chaps for your replies. Judging from your comments it seems my wipers are acting normally then. Christ, and I thought the wipers on my Series 2A and recently departed Lightweight were ****e!! Compared to my 90 they were brilliant!!!

Wiper problem - only half the screen wiped!

Ah interesting, but do they sweep across the screen and beyond the 12 o'clock position?

Wiper problem - only half the screen wiped!

Hi All, Having only acquired my 90 on Saturday this is my first post, so go easy on me:) The start/finish position on both wipers is pants, to say the least. The parked position is "10 o'clock" (rather than sitting horizontal to the windscreen frame, i.e. 9 o'clock) and they sweep round to...
