Off to Tesco in mine now so I'll see if there's a fitting for one on mine.

cut it off flush the drill using a small bit first slowly increasing in size

Length of metal with a suitable hole in it or a big nut, MIG that onto the remains of the bolt as a plug weld, then undo. The weld heat should be localised but also help to free the bolt.

Same as above, I’d try Plusgas seems more effective than wd40 and mole grips work them both ways should free it, or nut over top and mig weld.
Regarding struts mine being td6 has just two straps on lower tailgate and the two on top tail gate really ram the upper one up, if just left go makes the car shake as the tailgate hits its limit, on way down it has resistance till about half way then bangs down.

That gas strut is a damper for lower tailgate when opening it so it doesnt just drop.

WD40 is a waste of time, Plus Gas or ATF needed. +1 to MIG welding a nut on.Don't think mine works then
i've put some atf/diesel on.. while it doesnt mix as such, it does help as a carrier
