what does everyone use to maintain battery voltage while doing ignition on diag? all the pukka tools seem silly expensive!

6A Ring charger on a magnetic connector, obv's no use if you have lot's of accessories turned on :)

When its first connected it just shows voltage, you then have to press the button to select bike/car/snowflake before it charges. It does auto 6/12v for bikes so dunno why it cant just charge without input. Apart from that I like it, displays voltage and theres a 3 or 4 bar symbol for charging progress

Just like the one I have, I also have an earlier version with just LED's to indicate state of charge.
It would not be deemed safe if it came on with the previous settings as it might be set to 12 volts and then be connected to a 6 volt battery.

that is true, but conversely, i can fit and forget mine, if there is a power outage/cable unplugged then it continues when power is restored, useful on my bikes that don't get used over winter

I agree the safety aspect is typical EU OTT. I have solar chargers for all my vehicles, cheap to run and not affected by power failures. I even have a solar charging point in the house for mobile phones since the panic about winter power shortages:D

I have solar too, not that theres been much sun, but at least its there so my phone can endlessly search for signal in a power outage :D

Buggrit
Come to replace the lower tailgate straps, left hand one, easy.. ish.. right hand one.. comes off the tailgate easy.. the one into the body, bolt head comes off with ease!!
Now I'm left with the bolt stub that won't budge.
Any ideas? Normally heat would be the option but that's going to do paint damage.. left wd40 to speak in over night see what happens tomorrow.. will add some ATF as well

Also, is the gas strut supposed to be sorting like for the upper tailgate, or is it supposed to act as a damper? I can push it both ways and it stays in position

Yea, sorry, don't really see what it's for.. maybe so it doesn't crash open too hard.
Think the earlier ones don't have it

In that case, my old ones were weak so the upper tailgate did fall on my head a few times, after fitting the new ones it does crash open so I assume they are spring loaded.

This is a tiny one on the lower tailgate.
Maybe it's supposed to self open.. for lazy people
