Hello everyone
Well, today was a day!
From the start, got to parkwood nice and early and had a Butty. Pretty cold and light snow.
At 9.30 was one of the first into the site, and went directly for the big pond which was deep today, wanted to test out the Megasquirt!
Plunged in and got heroically stuck in the middle, not sure if we were floating too much or too much silt but tried from both directions and couldn't get through the middle 5 feet!
Anyway, here's a shot pretty deep, water gushing in fast, but still ticking over sweet as a nut. Impressive!
So we carried on off roading with the heaviest of right feet having a great time, burning lots of petrol no doubt!
Used the winch a couple of times when I ran out of talent and yes it was great, in fact it was all going swell until:
Oh dear, not again
Has been a couple of years since this last happened:
Now after it happened last time I vowed to always carry all the spares I could need in the car to repair it, and with that in mind we had a good laugh about it to get us ready for the job that ensued.
Luckily my passenger today was my good friend Mike who is also an excellent mechanic/engineer so we were really able to work at this together.
With a collection of hi-lift, winch off tree and bottle jack we were able to repair the car safely.
We started at 12.30 and finished at 4.00pm. We had to employ some pretty ghetto bush repair techniques along the way but the result was a replaced swivel ball which had been done as good and as clean as it would have been in my workshop.
We decided to spend the extra time washing everything properly in our parts washer (empty spares box swilled with petrol) so they it wouldn't need re-doing at home.
This took time but was worth it!
Not got many pics because the mixture of 4" deep slop and **** and Land Rover swivel grease pretty much had the hands out of action the whole time.
Perversely it was good fun doing it though and a huge sense of achievement to drive the car out of there without borrowing a single tool, spare or lent hand from anyone else:
Not a clean workshop:
But it came together after a while:
Bastard things (picture taken on the drive at home!):
Cheers!
