Flatpack bumpers……

Making up a couple of these to test but the idea is you buy it as a cheap kit and then fold it by hand yourself and weld it, the way its being plasma cut means you can just grab it in a vice or with a couple of mole grips and bend the plates by hand before welding

You would need to be able to weld but thats about it really

No these would be front winch bumpers for defenders and possibly D1, I could do rears but they'd be a bit more awkward so will need to create a sketch so I can see it on paper

A rear D1 could be done though as they're fairly straight

It would possibly make it a little cheaper as the item wouldn't be as bulky but the thinking was it'd make actual product cheaper if someones feeling cheap or wanting to be more involved with the modification.

i wish you luck ,cant win without trying :)

firstly i think you would need carefully written legal documents to ensure you are not liable for when badly built winch bumper fails and the winch flies off the front of a vehicle and kills someone.

Secondly, I think most people are too lazy, if they are keen and capable of welding they can probably make it from scratch, otherwise, people will just want a ready made one they can bolt on.

A winch isn't going to fly off any bumper if its designed correctly! But yes I get your point on legal position

The winch on mine bolts to 1/4" plate with reenforcement strips and that plate bolts directly to the chassis so if its flying off its your chassis thats crap.

But yes I suppose on the second point they could well do that

Ok, fair enough i was probably over exaggerating, but, I was just trying to make the point that you could be liable if things go wrong... you wouldn't believe how f**king stupid customers are.

I'll find a standard form to copy I think just to make sure ;)

Know what you mean about customers being stupid though! Worked in a bar for a bit and the idiots in there make you wonder

Not 100% with you on the second point, i don't have the time to cut the metal to shape and size but I would happily weld it myself if it means saving money

Just drop into your local metal shop then and ask them for the parts to be cut, would only take you 10 minutes to work out the sizes and they'd probably cut it there and then for you.

Suppose but would prefer to give my business to someone within the LZ community

actually not a bad idea. welding the bumper takes up less space than cutting and fabricating the pieces.

maybe offer two prices, one for a ready built one for an ikea bumper

Better off just selling the plans mush surely??????
