Another day another joy.

Todays issue - wipers not working, but washers are.

I first thought they were just stuck as it was -3*C outside this morning, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

My plan is to look at the following:

Fuses
Relay
Attempt to run power directly to motor

Before I stick my overalls on, as ever, any points in other directions much appreciated.

(Defender 90 1991 200 TDI)

✌🏻 🔧

The motor lives under the cover by the passenger door.
To get that off there are a few screws top and bottom and one hidden behind the oval badge on the jesus handle.

Use a volt meter to check for a voltage.
Quoite often the issue is that the motor bushes have worn.
First indication is that fast and slow speed doesn't make any difference.

Mine failed (yellow is very worn) and I changed the motor only to find out you can get new bushes (RTC198)

Amazing as always miktdish thanks!

I’ll just go check the fuses and the relay.

Oh, what’s this bloody rats nest? Half of it isn’t in the Haynes manual 😂🤦‍♂️

Ooo the glass fuses… make sure the contacts are clean. Even though the fuse looks good get an electrical meter & check both side of the fuse while it’s in place.

Glass fuse x2strips standard
Little block next to them is an extra/aux

Any tips on how to identify what this additional fuse set is for? My assumption is “take one out and see what stops working” 😂

Are there usual things people would wire into them?

Spot lights
Light bars
Radio
If you have some of these pull the fuses and see.

What other extras are there?

Wiper update - took the connector off the motor. Got caught for time so put it back on. Now they’re working 😂 This thing baffles me sometimes.
Hopefully then it's just a poor contact on the motor, clean them up.
I think sorting the additional fuse box should be on your to do list.

Found this screwed but not wired into the back of the fuse box 🤷🏻

Anyone fancy a game of name that wire (or relay)

003 is some rats nest which is wired into both the wiper motor and horn 🤷🏻‍♂️
