I suppose the main reason was the S3 we had last winter wasn't much fun?
I can respect it as a tool, but as a daily driver it didn't impress.... You couldn't have a conversation above 25mph for the diesel clatter. It destroyed my back - took 6 months to recover and it was ice cold all the time.
After looking at almost 30 examples at all sorts of prices we settled on our new '95 Discovery 1, mostly because it has never been welded, nor does it need it having been garaged all it's life and also because it has full history. The fact it happens to be a top spec V8 ES with a few extra options on it - rear a/c for starters - never knew you could even get that?!
