Yesterday: Fitted new fuel tank & sender. Bugger of a job on my own, but I did it. The fuel return pipe and sender fuel output pipe unions stayed united, they wouldn't come undone and broke off the end of the return pipe and sender. I used a length of fuel hose and clips to 'repair' and fix the pipes to the new tank. Refitting was hard work, but hopefully I won't have to do it again for a fair few years. I took off the front propshaft and renewed the bolts at the transfer-box end, so now I have four fully torqued bolts rather than the three I had. Undoing the flange nut was interesting(?) - I used a two-foot breaker bar and still nearly got an aneurism, but it finally gave. Took the flange off, removed the mudguard, fitted new bolts. I refitted it all, took it for a drive (with all my tools still in the back, just in case), re-checked it when I got home. All still tight. Happy bunny (or badger?)
Todays project is to finish the rear load bay with cappings to keep the rubber matting from lifting at the edges.

just jet washed the underside and had a poke around for any rust, came back in satisfied, ordered my CB radio for the Salisbury Plains trip on the 31st... gonna go back out now and remove the lower front bumper and tow bar :)

Did an oil change yesterday and converted my new Disco 2 td5 to fully synthetic. Booked her in for an underside clean and full waxoyl at Channel Comercial vehicles in Ashford (£180 +vat). Booked her in at the local Hlfords autoshop ( no choice due to RAC 6 month warranty) as I found the steering box leaking when I changed the oil. Well at least someone else pays for the repair. Will double check the repair afterwards ( no trust you say) to bloody right.

Painted the first coat (undercoat) of Coniston green on my Hicap today. With a roller and brush! Went quite well, looks good so far - for a workhorse! Hopefully do the top coat in the morning.

It's that time of year where I take mine into the forest to get a load of fire wood and clean up the forest a bit. It snowed half way through the afternoon. The Defender still managed to tow a trailer full of tree trunks. Today I will clean it out and start fitting it out for camping in.

took my new BFG KM2's down to the fitters to get um put on me new wheels.
Was a tight fit to get 4x 285/75/16 tyres and 4 alloys in the back of a 90.

Apparently i have to wait a couple of hours for the tyre seal on the beads to go off, so they will get fitted tomorrow now.:D
