Today I noticed the engine trembling slightly under light loads.
I've no idea what would be causing that, but it's not EGR related, as that is blanked off at present.

Took the roof rails off to get them powered coated
but now I am not sure if I like it better without them 🤔

The other day I reattached the heat shield above the rear exhaust box. It had come loose and started rattling a few days before.
There are two fixing points under the axle that you can't reach. These photos show one side (with the pop rivet) and one of the rear fixings.

I sprayed the fixings with Plusgas and left them to soak over night. It was then a pretty simple job. A 24mm socket was needed to undo and replace the fixings. The new parts are cut from a tin can.
The bad news is that while I was under there I found one of the rear shock absorbers is leaking.

Today the weather was good enough to start on getting the i6 ready for the MOT and then for sale.
I stripped the rear brakes so I could clean and adjust the parking brakes.
I also gave the underside a good clean, wire brush off corrosion, and paint with Bonda and underseal.

Over the last four weeks I've replaced the Automatic gearbox and torque converter while all on my drive.
Today I ground a slot in the transmission drain plug and used a hammer and cold chisel to get it out as I had rounded the torx slot. I also ordered new ones.
Tomorrow I will order new brake service kits and pistons and at the weekend will change all those. Then I'll go after the other 34 faults showing on the OBD2 reader

Just a couple then o_O

@GrumpyGel forgot to mention Mapp sensor and anti shudder flap (throttle body). Need to do the parking brakes too.
Bought it as a mechanical none runner from Copart so getting through this steadily. A load of those faults are from removing the bumper and having all the fluids drained. It had 17 before starting the gearbox change and the main ones for that have gone. So once back togterh hoping to be around ten :)

Today I changed the oil and the transmission fluid and started her up.
Adjust the handbrake so it works
Took the drivers side chair to the trimmers to have the leather sewn up but it was going to be the same price as a replacement from the main dealers so I put it back in again.

Discovered a rattling from the front right over bumps, so checked the brake splash guard, only to discover its beginning to part company from the hub. Now do I replace it or just remove it, decisions, decisions.

I'm thinking pull it off, and wait for the other side to do the same.
They don't do much in my opinion, other than rust off eventually.

Rip it off mate, I drove mine for years without and never noticed any difference.
And you won't. They are supposed to reduce dirt laden water from getting on the back of the rotor from the opposite wheel, in reality this doesn't happen.

After picking up a rather nice Audi A5 convertible for the wife at the weekend, I thought it was about time I treated my FL2 to some goodies. So I got a reasonable condition leather steering wheel on ebay for an offer price of £40, to replace the very low quality feeling polyurethane factory wheel. I'm glad had to remove the wheel, as I found the securing nolt was loose.

I also ordered 2 replacement bonnet struts, as mine were only just holding the bonnet up if there wasn't any wind trying to close it again.
The replacements proved just how bad the originals had become, as the bonnet now pings upwards when the safety catch is released.
