What have you done to your Freelander today

Girded my loins and disassembled the tailgate to replace the switch. Turns out that is really is as simple as the videos suggest even if it did terrify me pulling the card out of the clips as it takes more force that I really want to put on a 'cosmetic' item.
Central (un)locking is now working on all the bits it should
And it all went back together with no spare screws for a change

The biggest danger when pulling the card off is how hard you land on yer arse. 😝

We started at John O' Groats and raced the sun to Land's end

We won!

Filled the fuel tank. First time I’ve found diesel cheaper than petrol in what seems like years.
Filled the windscreen washer bottle.
Took a load of stuff to the tip.
Thought about washing it, then changed my mind. No weddings or funerals expected soon.
Did empty all the sweetie wrappers out of the door pockets though. Found 12p in loose change.

Bought some roof bars for the old girl (no, the Freelander), cheap ones off eBay, as used genuine are a bit steep. Arrived a week late, box was it tatters, colour of bars was bare ally silver not black as advertised. Told courier to return them and preferably beat seller around the head with them. Looks like I'll be buying genuine ones after all...

Visited an auto wrecker today [ scrappy], as they'd advertised a Freelander 1 ready for dismantling. Actually they had two! I managed to get a pair of door mirrors, a driver's rubber floor mat which is much better that mine, the rubber 'ties' which hold the jack in place, a engine oil dipstick and a replacement HDC switch. All for £65. I ran out of time but I plan to go back and 'harvest' the 2 rubber ends to the air intake grill below the wind screen. Overall pretty happy.

Tried my second hand shower cover this morning
whats the stupid male record for slowest time to actually fit 🤔

Picked up another Tangiers 1.8 for a project. Also, drove past the garage where @Nodge68 bought his Freelander 2. It is now a car wash !! Hope they do that better than vehicle servicing and repairs.
Another project Andy. Is this the one you're going to make into the forever car?
I think they were going out of business when I bought my FL2, so they just want to get rid of it, and other vehicles in there inventory. I'm not surprised, looking at the workmanship I found in mine, although to be fair, the LR dealer that originally sold and then maintained it are pretty rubbish from what I've seen.

Yes, subject to full survey - took water to get me home but didn't use it - coolant and bottle very dirty and suspect but drives ok. Lacks power on hills but then knowing there may be a problem and I had 90 miles to get it home, I took it easy !!
Photos soon.

In my experience, the 1.8 does lack power on hills. It's only got 118Nm of torque, which is half that of the TD4.

Yes, coupled with my light foot on an unknown engine!! The one I rebuilt gets more of a caning, when warmed up of course !!

Just spotted the damn thing has wheel spacers on and I drove it !! Look to be non centric too. Still, it is here in one piece! More importantly, so am I !

Spacers. I hate those things. My wife's VW Eos came with spacers fitted. They stayed until the morning after we bought it, when the came off and were sold on marketplace to someone not so fussy.

At least you got home safe n sound
