Had a chance to get my stripped rear propshaft captive bolts changed today. The challenge has been matching a dry day with a day I had some spare time. Very east job all in all. So rear propshaft is back on and on the test drive it felt good. I think the slight vibration that started around 65mph has gone so I'm a happy chappy.

2” spacers fitted under the air bags (replaced the 1” ones already in there) and waiting for the Insa Dakar’s to turn up for the 16” alloys I acquired on Friday to replace the 18’s & AT3’s it’s currently rolling on.

Tyres fitted- let’s off-road!!

Nowt on my Disco... but just replacing the front shocks and turrets on my lads Defender. Totally rusted through, and the shock was shot... Dry run before I finally get mine sorted. Pretty easy job to be fair.

I’ve just had the turrets, dislocation cones bad seats arrive for my D2 - job for the weekend along with the new springs!

Every single bolt on the turret mount snapped off... Make sure you have a full kit, turrets, fixing ring, nuts and bolts etc... These were rotten with half the turret missing. Im surprised they didnt give up on a bumpy road...

a good point and Yes I have all new bolts etc

I’ve had the turrets off about a year ago when changing shocks so everything was greased on re-fit so hopefully will be ok

Fitted a new air con dryer, put my light bar back on whilst I was there & fitted the Tuff Rok s/steel rear mud flaps & brackets, had to cut some s/s plate that sandwiches the rubber mudflaps as the originals had rotted away.

Attempted to fit new HD shock turrets as a “quick” job but failed as the bolts from the existing retainer ring don’t quite fit - and I need to trim some bodywork back to allow the turret to fit :(
That’ll teach me for trying to do half a job.

need to fit all at once with the new retainer ring and dislocation cones but ran out of steam. Job for next weekend now:cool:

Drove down to the 4x4 spares day at Malvern from Cheshire

Bought a load of series 3 parts that I really did not need then realised I couldn't fit them all in the D3. Thought I was just going to leave them there TBH

A supercharged RR sport owner from Swansea came to the rescue and loaned me an inflatable roof rack so then trundled 2 hours north at 55 mph back up the M5/M6 with said parts

Got home Mrs went nuts and I got another rollicking ha ha

Finally got around to fitting the handset of my radio to stop it swinging around or having to loop it over the rear view mirror!

must sort that headliner too - after a year of being like that it hasn’t fixed itself so I guess I’ll have to do it

Romped up the the m6 towing a large caravan in brisk winds with a lifted disco... fun. Dropped said van off, done old coach lane and 4 others, stopped at 2 pubs and now watching the rain wash off all the mud though the window of my awning with a chilled "craft" larger (stella)

4.25t+ train weight doing 60-65 up shap with 32inchs of rubber and EGTs sub 600.

Today's been a good day!

Run some Capt. Trolley's creeping crack cure in the N/S gutter inside & out as I still had water running along the inside in heavy rain & didn't want to put my newly recovered roof lining back in until sorted.
