Had a few hours off this afternoon so tried to transfer the replacement engine I bought to the engine bay.

Didn't achieve an awful lot apart from getting it out of the garage and under the bonnet. Seem to have got to a similar stage that we got to when replacing ther gearbox earlier in the year. Close but not quite there. Any tips for the final push? How to get enough force? the alignment doesn't look too bad.

5 near new bf all terrains on the wheels so swapped them over.
It drives alot nicer on the 16s compared to the 18s.

So far sold the light guards oem dog cage and the oem load cover out the donor.
Think il get on with ripping engine and box out as one.
With it being an 02 with egr cooler will it be a 15p engine no?

Well weighed up my options with my silver discovery.. looks like it was oil pump nut failure.
1. Engine and gearbox swap refit the air suspension swap front suspension over. Take what's good of donor disco.
But mines still had previous welding on the chassis before.

Or 2. Just do a running rolling chassis swap donors chassis is in very good condition.

Iv taken option 2 chassis swap it is looks like it will be alot less hassle

Nothing exciting got donor trucks doors off. Ratchet strapped the front axle down.
Body bolts are loose it's over in my pals unit.
Front springs on my current chassis are done for so remove the rears grinder in the fronts. Remove doors for weight.
Hopefully get both bodys lifted tonight and chassis moved.
Donor trucks had all radius arms rebushed so il be reusing all that.
It's been a fair mission so far.

I think the oil pump let go.
No warning no oil light no noises just a sudden bang.
No oil usage nothing but a recent thermostat always started perfect hot or cold always ran perfectly fine no indication of it away to blow up
2 rods thrown. Turbo seized solid.

Nope changed fluids when I got it and filters and that was it. August I got the discovery and it was a 188k d2 that was cheep.
Its sat on 198k now so its lived a long life. The incredible thing is it still actually starts
Argh... gutted for you.
What are your plans for it ... Re-engine it, or scrap it and start again with another one?

I had just picked up a preface 15p d2 as a donor truck.
My initial plans was take the gearbox
Rear door lock actuator.
Wiper motor.
Center console.
Cut the inner wing I had to plate on my silver one for mot.
Wheels had 5 16s with near brand new tyres
Straight rear bumper.
Heaps of little bits that make a donor worth while
but the bodys absolutely been battered.
I planned on keeping the chassis and engine aside and taking everything good off of it for myself.
Then my own discovery did that 6hours later.
So plan is put my silver body on the donor chassis and running gear and keep hold of my current one for spares.
I know all my diffs and props are good mine had also had a brand new steering box and pump.
So not at a total loss.

If it wasnt the fact I had a donor I had litterly just bought. I'd have just stuck it aside and gone just bought another one. Whatever I buy would need work or something done I may aswell just do this
