I usually take mine into town for a wash and a "Polish". I can't get it into any of the auto car washes so I have to go to one of those "hand wash" places where it seems that all the workers are Polish immigrants. Frankly, it's not a job that I would relish in this weather.Cleaned it ready for a weekend with my children..... View attachment 144673
Or should I say.... had it cleaned!!
Very good, I washed, waxed and vacuumed my keeper discovery so I'm avoiding puddles and muddy roads for the next few days and wiping my feet when I get inI washed em both . having spent a fair chunk of yesterday pressure washing all the winter sh*t off the underneath - and getting it all over everywhere .... meaning I had to wash em both . Clean and shiny again for about 5, maybe 10 mins .

Plenty of rain forecast here tomorrow still it was nice while it lasted.I'm gonna vacuum 'em out tomorrow evening ... I hope.. cos they're both desperate for it
Then I'll be needing to get the bumper gel out .... and the polish .... and the wax .... and all the other cr@p - to give em both a good detailing
Crap... I've just passed my first year of disco ownership, I paid 510 quid for it, about another 150 to mot and service it including timing belt and since then it's had uj's, wheel bearings, auxiliary belt tensioner and a water pump so pretty cheap motoringI acquired my TD5 "Millennium Limited Edition" back in May 2000. It was previously being used as a demonstrator by a dealer. It cost £28k and probably cost about £33k after I'd finished paying for it! I took the decision to sell her on last summer. Basically, in the 18 years I've had her anything that could go wrong, HAS gone wrong!! Everything from head gasket, turbo, clutch, fuel pump, air bags, gear box etc, etc. I've been on the back of more recovery trucks than I care to mention. This was on a vehicle that never missed a service and has only done 141k miles. Despite advertising her as "spares or repairs" I got no serious offers.
So, three weeks ago, I bit the bullet. She's had a third of the chassis replaced, towing equipment re-installed, both sun roof leaks repaired, new front bumper and repairs to front headlight washer jets, new auxiliary towing socket, dents removed from front bonnet and re-sprayed, port side rear door dent repair and re-sprayed, new dashboard lamps, welding to n/s/f wheel arch, diesel leak from fuel regulator repaired, bush on front suspension replaced, rubber boot on front suspension ball joint, new battery, air con pump repaired and re-gas, welding to o/s/f inner wheel arch area and sill area, renew leaky water pump, drivers heated seat element replaced and an MoT.
The invoice is enough to make your hair curl bearing in mind it wasn't worth £600 when we started!
But, She's good for another ten years now........hopefully!
lol, given the history, I love your optimismI acquired my TD5 "Millennium Limited Edition" back in May 2000. It was previously being used as a demonstrator by a dealer. I love those seats. They're only in the Country version down here, dunno about up there.Vaxed mine ready for mot and eBay in a week or so View attachment 145376
Aye, you can't polish a turd but you can cover it in glitter ...I love those seats. They're only in the Country version down here, dunno about up there.
I've been keeping my eye out for a County being sold for scrap, so I can rescue the seats to see If I can get them fitted in my Freelander - a vehicle worthy of such fine seats
That's a great idea, obviously learned through many years of Discovery ownership... Colour code the bits as you replace them, so you know what order they are going to break inView attachment 145605 View attachment 145606 Put more bonny bits on!
