Heres my old one on a different beach - its away to the big scrap yard in the sky now coz it rusted away.
So lesson learned

Did you read the blurb, its a 20 min walk to get there, no vehicle access, plus take a Discovery near the salty sand and it would disappear before it got back to terra-firma

don't blame u , i wouldn't like to take it near the salt either, only place for salt is on ur chips :D:D
 
Failed its MOT...sigh :(
Well...actually... 90% of the vehicle was fine... but the O/S/F corner failed miserably. :eek:
Track rod end, anti-roll bar linkage, upper suspension ball joint, lower suspension ball joint, brake binding, - all O/S/F
2 small areas of welding needed.. O/S sill and the funny little bar that runs under the radiator but doesn't actually seem to do much.:confused:
Not enough to pay for the boss's holiday in Lanzarotte..but certainly enough to qualify for herself's chrimbo present! :)
Well...it is done. Brake issue required a new caliper...and one "small" area of welding grew somewhat as we searched for solid metal to weld to! But...MOT now granted...and will take care of the NSF suspension ball joints in due course. :)

glad all is well again in the day of disco, lol

when mine failed on my hippo i got a rebuild kit, new pistons seals etc, bloody hell what a job , used an air pump to get the seals onto the lip of the piston

am going to replace all my discs and pads in the spring , if the cakioers are sticking will just get some exchange callipers, won't mess around rebuilding them again , took forever
 
got the air compressor rebuild kit, but forget to get some push fit couplings and a new bracket, came with new bushes for the motor to sit on, mine are shot causing the motor to vibrate and touches the chassis

car had full service , all oils and filters changed, also full inspection done mechanically wise all ok

tomorrow am expecting a call from the manager at the garage , after me finding out they were missing , seeking compensation from them , he didn't like the word vosa or facebook , as i could really do some damage on his facebook page with a write up and he knows it

seeing £500 from them which i think is a reasonable figure , will use that towards my cam belts , being quoted £700 for supply and fit new ones, inc oil pump, water pump, tensioners, idlers etc

that's another reason i got the full inspection , service done , everything was fine as the mechanic that done it for me put it up on the post lift

but since then i've managed to track down two decent second hand curtain airbags for £60 , which may come fri , sat

never fitted airbags in my life so will be a new experiance for me

but as long as the battery is disconnected and will touch the battery leads together , so it gives it s hard reset, of course not in the battery but just the pos and neg leads

once fitted will have to plug in my iid diagnostic and try to reset the srs ecm to normal state

however the headlining has etc come out , been trying to work out how i can get it out on my own , really concerned of it creasing

will fold the seats flat, remove the front , centre and back light, handles , remove the door rubbers , then should come down

if i can then get it at an angle should give me enough room to then access the area i need to install the air bags

will of course remove the battery and wait at least 30 mins

thinking of also removing the drivers seat as that's the side where the airbags will go

will take plenty of pics , it's just getting the headlining out and back in that concerns me without causing any damage

knew it needed some work, but annoyed as no more checks showed up it had been side swiped ,

also annoyed the air bags were removed , would have been so bad if they had been there , could have got them reconditioned

it's just this headlining removal that's worrying me , it must me i think 10 x foot long

haven't measured it to be honest
 
all the bits turned up to rebuild my air compressor

it decided to throw some faults up tonight , is overheating

pretty sure it's the exhaust that's blocked and not allowing it to vent

imagine the silica is a right mess inside

typical seeing it's nice and cold , but looked and found the small couplings haven't turned up, won't be here till tues, grrrrr

all good fun, but loving disco ownership , really nice getting stuck in

yeh i know need to get certified :D
 
fitting a new air compressor in the week, whilst rebuilding the old one broke a collect and not being able to get a 10mm brass collet, getting threads cut in so a male to pushfit fitting with be installed instead of the collects and then keeping it as a spare,

also got an electric seat frame for next to nothing off ebay , as the manual height adjustment due to its design tilts the seat base forward, electric is like a scissor frame going up level , being more supportive to the back of ur knees

should be fun to wire up

know it sounds mad, but electric seats are in leather ,my interior is cloth, this will save me having to replace all 7 x seats , giving me up,down,front,back just have to adjust the seat back which isn't no hardship
 
wirebrushed the loose little bits of paint off the chassis whilst the compressor is currently off

gave it a good coat of hammerite , thought it was better than nothing

removed the insulation , cleaned the compressor plastic covers, put some foam insulation on the edges, so that there's no risk of it vibrating against the chassis

just got the other one to do

letting the internal insulation to dry out ,

i also bought some extra pipe fittings, which extend out of the box, but mainly ive now got two chances of getting the pipes out if i need to , alas it gives an extra place to leak but is a simple o ring that i can get to, without disturbing the compressor fittings

also not getting in to the future situation on not being able to get a separate collet

new front diff breather filter , which i found out about as a modification

otherwise i've read they block up and blow the front diff oil seals, so a cheap mod £15 quid

wondering do u think silicone lubricant grease is ok to use , or don't use anything plse
