I thought the turbos on the 4.4 were pretty solid.. as far as turbos go
I think we had these on our FL. They don't do one for the rear window on account of it rolling down but they were brilliant on the sides, great for kids and so much better than that stupid fabric people pull over the tops of their door. You know when you buy some kit for your car that looks great and you get it home and pfff it's pants...
Well I bought these with the latter mentality but daaaaamn am I chuffed to bits.
In no way am affiliated but these are pretty good and damn easy to fit.
There's not à lot of companies that do stuff for these like this. A real find in my book and not permanent, which is excellent. View attachment 291263View attachment 291264View attachment 291265View attachment 291266View attachment 291267View attachment 291268
looking at them shoes it looks like the previous drove it with the hand brake one they are well and truly cookedAfter my boost hose issue last week, I decided to tackle the wheel bearing noise on the OSR of my car this week. It has been making a horrible stressed squeaking at low speed. Then I read a post about the brake shoe pins falling after the backing plate rots out and I thought "Ah yes, that's the noise. I'd better get the screws and washers out and it did happen after one day where the parking brake light was flashing on the dash.
I removed the disc to investigate, then I bought new discs and shoes. I know there's still life in them but I'm a bit picky about my cars so I replaced them anyway, expense be dammed!
New brakes always look nice don't they.
I did one side then took my daughter and her friend to Brownies, decided I could do the other side while they were there and get back. I was correct too but forgot to account for the fact that I'd just driven the car and much to the amusement of my neighbour I removed the disc in record time and then ran across the drive saying "hot, hot, hot, hot!" I didn't want to spill the mess over the blocks and couldn't decide where to drop it!

Yep the work of the devil himself, what is wrong with a leaver, ow it takes up room that can be used for other unnecessary stuff like the rotary navigation dialEPB?
I agree absolutely. A poor old bloke up the road to me who has just recovered from a broken hip backed his car out of his garage, stopped, the EPB applied itself and that was the end of his drive, it would not release. A similar thing happened to the wife of a friend, she stopped at traffic lights in town, the EPB operated and refused to release leaving her stranded, in both cases the cars had to be recovered to the dealer for the marque.Yep the work of the devil himself, what is wrong with a leaver, ow it takes up room that can be used for other unnecessary stuff like the rotary navigation dial
We have had two sets of these blinds on our Octavia and now our Kodiaq, they are brilliant especially for our dogs who can have the window open and still be screened. You know when you buy some kit for your car that looks great and you get it home and pfff it's pants...

Spot on my good manIn the UK https://www.carshades.co.uk/
Possibly made by the same company?
Same here, to me nuts and bolts etc are easier to deal with than rot, I don’t mine but of flaking on say tailgate where it’s easy enough to clean and respray but sills, arches etc to much of a pain. Agree about budget, keep thinking add bit here and there and before you know it your original £10k budget is now 30 . I looked at 3.6 and they are cheap but turbos put me off, iv heard of you blank the egrs and map them out it’s meant to be ok but not heard anything for definite. Wouldn’t mind a 4.4 na jag engine, simpler again than the SC but seem very rare so think it will have to be SC next time, right now I’ll keep the td6, not fast but it’s adequate, needs new tyres and rear hub bushes so there here now just waiting on the tool to do them from aYeah that was my first points to check, rear arches and sills, if i found anything wholed or crusty id have no even stayed to hear it running,
Id much rather deal with nuts and bolts or an engine swap and electrics rather then rust,
I do really like some of the l405s but if i look i start thinking if i added a little more budget i could get a lot more car but look a little bit more gets somthing in this age range and before i know it im searching for like 30k+ motors
I was quite confident on this one and it was the first one i wanted, but also had a list of others to go see had 3 other supercharged and 2 aj 4.4 v8s, before id have just had to get on a flight and find one i wanted,
and last on the list was a late 2009 facelift tft dash 3.6 which was the prettiest of them all deep red, 2 tone interior, design pack but the tdv8 turbos and inlets issue worried me a lot,
I did also see that buying mine with 9 days mot if it wasn't for me i wouldn't be out of pocket or stuck with it with a years mot on either
5 o-rings for a dipstick? That's some set of spares you'll have there!
Have you tried the orange ones? Aren't they the oil/solvent safe ones? Perhaps called Vitron seals or something like that.
Pretty sure the epb on mine only applies via the lever, nothing automatic about it
