I've measured it a few times now on a few roads including motorways when they be free so i can do a constant speed.. at least 5-10 miles to get a decent average and with hot engine etc
Cruise seems to pulse.. ie accelerate on and off.. you can't really notice it but you can see it in the instant mpg screen
Plus cruise vent accelerate more than at a glacial pace so i think I'll only use it for 30/40 limits and not for 'cruising'

I have noticed that if you push "resume" and there is a big diff in present speed to target speed it will try to get there ASAP  .
I always drive manually up close to set before pushing resume.
I often use the +/- buttons to slow or speed its such a gentle change.

If you watch the "instantaneous" MPG you would never drive a V8, so dont look:p

Mines not like that. Press resume at 40 when it's set to 70, will probably take around 10 seconds

Check if there is a software update to improve it.

Earlier P38 cruise (AMR1173) does the "accelerate hard on resume" thing. The later version (AMR5700) I installed recently is much more gentle.

Haven't tried the different tune settings on the later ECU, but maybe your MK3's have the wrong engine type ? or someone has been reprogamming ?

Ours was 3yrs old and unmolested when we got it.
Will do some tests next time on a good road (that could be a while here:oops:)
But it’s obviously an opinion thing to some degree as well.

Well they say problems come in threes... I identified some resonance through the OS engine mount, not a big issue to change so I ordered one with new bolts & planned to do it this coming Saturday. In the meantime, the AC compressor control valve started misbehaving, a lot of people spend ~£350 on a replacement compressor rather than ~£85 on a valve, not me! I've had a valve kicking around for a while so I was going to roll that into Saturdays jobs...
Tonight I found out that the front passenger door hasn't been unlocking when the interior handle is pulled for a while, apparently she 'didn't want me to worry about it' despite the fact it's a lot easier & cheaper to rectify if you can actually open the affected door without having to remove the seat and door card from the inside (sigh....)

So tonight I ordered a door latch, the AC compressor is on the back burner as it's about 4 hours of a job, I reckon the latch & engine mount is do-able in the time I have available on Saturday. And yes, I'll take some photos for the morbidly curious!

On the upside, I did blag a couple of hours driving around in a 5.0SC Velar which apparently had a drivetrain vibration issue once warm... It was thoroughly warm by the time I brought it back with a binding rear brake caliper ;)

+1 on that. Main dealers should apply software upgrades at main service points but many don't. As emissions targets get more aggressive many manufacturers have less aggressive profiles for the gearbox change. Mind you, often the changes also soften gear changes.

You should be able to see the software version with diagnostics. Pretty sure the Gap tool can apply any updates.
