What did you do with your Range Rover today

I once repaired a broken exhaust on an old Fiat 125 I gave £30 for so, I wasn't gonna shell out for a new exhaust, using a baked bean tin,
gun gum, and 3 jubilee clips, it was still holding when I got rid of it nearly a year later, some bodges can last quite well!
 
Tryin to get it up and running long enough to drive it to a shop so they can put a computer on it to fix the high idle. My first time fooling with these LR's and I'm going crazy with this thing.

It's a 98 Disco l LE. I got it from my Dad that passed last year in October and haven't really had much time to full with it. The Allen screw in the the throttle body has been adjusted so I'm having a hard time getting it drivable. My Dad had some guy do work on it that shouldn't have. I had to replace the fuel pump just to get it running and noticed the crank sensor is missing half of the cover and it's loose. It's a lot of this and that so far.

Is there a starting point for that allen screw adjustment. I've been reading a lot on this, and when I started fooling with it it was bottomed out. I figured they were trying to get it to idle down is why. I was gonna see if anyone could tell me where the head is to be from the factory. I was gonna use a caliber to measure the depth and see if that would be a good starting point

Decided the growing list of faults could wait and just drove it instead. List so far
Knock on front end which I thought I'd fixed :mad:
Rear wiper not moving
Airbag light on......again
Low screen wash warning....this may get done soon if I can be arse'd popping the bonnet :D

I was trying to work out what model, year and engine we were looking at. There's quite a lot of variation and the answer will very much depend on what we're looking at.

If you remember the comedy sketch on class with John Cleese, Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett the Land Rover forum is similar with Range Rover / Series at the top, Disco and Defender in the middle and Freelander / eJoke at the bottom. Everyone is still trying to work out if the Pretender is a Land Rover or a sex toy of some sort.

That helps me but not you. Not fiddled with one of those but as Brian says the Disco section should be able to help. I don't envy you as unpicking soneone else's bodges will be a nightmare.

Have you downloaded RAVE? You'll need that and try to get it back to factory as much as possible before you can start troubleshooting.

Ahahaha I understand.......I thought I was replying to the "what did you do to your Landy today" forum, not sure how I ended up on the range Rover. I appreciate the help tho.
 
Swapped out the drivers door lock on my RHD P38 for a spare to which I had already fitted new micro switches. The old micro switches had a high resistance when "on" so I am hopeful I have fixed the lock cycling problem.:) Time will tell. I have the same job to do on the LHD P38 but the micro switches have yet to be delivered:(
