Been thinking about my predicament and looking at the head gasket i have ready to go on..
The only way exhaust gas can get into the coolant, is via #1 or #7 where the coolant goes on/out of the head is that right? I'm having cold misfire issues with #3

Does that only happen with block/liner problems?
Can't see any other way that coolant could get to the middle 2

I can't visualise the V8 isn't there water ways around the middle 2 ? If water is getting past the head gasket then it will enter the cylinder.

Hmmm. Power was down today, like it was in linp mode. Sluggish abobe 2500rpm. No smoke. Fuel starvation? Revs to the limiter out of gear. All very odd.

The water channels are front and rear, looking at the HG there's nothing near the middle 2

I'd change out the fuel filter and do a pump output test.

After he struggled to pump up on a run between the houses, just parked him up for warmer and dryer weather. Nanocom had cleared the 'unknown fault code' message in the morning but he still struggled to rise properly. Checking before the return trip showed same unknown fault code plus sensor out of range twice for each corner.

Me too although I might try diag first seeing as I have got it and it means not getting dirty.
