"CAN Bus LED bulbs are LED bulbs which are made specifically for CAN Bus-equipped vehicles. These bulbs work with your vehicle's advanced computer system, so when your vehicle's computer reads them, they respond back correctly". They work on the P38, basically they are designed with a ballast resistor to draw the same current as a tungsten filament bulb+1 what’s can bus ???
Another bit of crap German engineering, it should never have been applied to cars.(Controller Area Network bus) A rugged, digital serial bus designed for industrial environments. Introduced by Bosch in the mid-1980s for in-vehicle communications, it is used in myriad applications including factory automation, building automation, aircraft and aerospace as well as in cars, trucks and buses.
Thank you Mr/Mrs/Ms, etc., etc., Wikipedia
Still tight in his pockets....Think he's trawling through his memory Mike, it's been that long since it's been tight.
Makes replacing lights with low energy LED pointlessAnother bit of crap German engineering, it should never have been applied to cars.
Reversing lights I meant@Flossie the rev gauge as you say is easy to do. Don’t do it on the cold as the binnacle can crack quite easy and remember the wiring for the fuel flap switch.
You know there is a dimmer switch on the stalk?
Quite right, except for the dash illuminationMakes replacing lights with low energy LED pointless

What is CAN bus and how does it work?
The CAN bus system enables each ECU to communicate with all other ECUs - without complex dedicated wiring. ... The broadcasted data is accepted by all other ECUs on the CAN network - and each ECU can then check the data and decide whether to receive or ignore it.

there are no advantages in a car IMO only disadvantages, a radial system is much better and critical systems should effectively be stand alone with just reporting to the central control. The advantage is that it is easily scalable. The disadvantage is like any network, if there is only 1 path and that path breaks somewhere then everything downstream goes too, a bit like your okd fairy lights.

Yep, that's it, cheap and nasty German engineering.I agree. Guess canbus is cheaper too - less wire.
The OE reverse are quite crap but the towball works day and night. Makes a crunch so you know to pull forward a bitReversing lights I meant
