My P38 has started wandering at the slightest bump in the road. It has had new steering damper and front shocks - anyone got any other ideas?

Try the front ball joints for any movement or 'lift'. You'll want a big bar in there to test them.
While you're doing that, examine the rubber bushes for deteriation.

Did it start suddenly or gradually? Sudden might indicate loose linkage in the system. Mine was gradual and was cured mainly by Polybush Comfort bushes in the C lever arms.

Check the drag link ball joints and track rod ends.

Started gradually, so your idea seems sensible, along with David Cooper and Datatek.

Hi Buddy,
Have you noticed if the roads by you have been damaged due to the cold weather.The reason I ask is, mine has started to pull. I took it to the garage they checked everything below and got the all clear. I then drove a hired range rover new, went along the same route and it pulled just the same. If you notice you might see the road indented with lorry tracks, as your wheels are larger than a standard vehicle the range rover wheels will try and fit into the tracks.

As I've said on other threads, mine was cured by changing the drag link. A small amount of play in tha ball joints seemed to provoke wandering and an impression that the wheels were out of balance.

Re my wandering P38.
Had it checked out at a Landy friendly workshop - itwas the radius arm bushes, front bush on both sides well and truly Kn....ed, both sides rears not quite so bad - but beyond sell by date!
