If you going to leave it take the battery out for now, but I think you should persist after making a bit of progress....

i wondered when someone was going to spot that !
Are the coil packs connected up and properly ?
the injectors should be with the right connectors you'd have to get things pulled way out of alignment to get them wrong.
pull a plug and see if there is fuel on the plug, then you'll know if fuel is getting into the chamber, also while its out you can check to make sure its sparking.
lets narrow it down..
they've leaked onto the driveway ?The V8 engine works on the lost spark principal looks like he has lost all of them.

Just get a can of Eezystart and spray it into the intake on cranking - if it tries to or indeed runs on the stuff it means your compressions are reasonable and the sparks are in attendance at the required time.
That will narrow it down to a fuelling issue.
Tomorrow I will have a poke about at the rear of my engine, mines a '97.
The metal pipe which runs alongside rockers has a black plastic cover which covers a tyre valve. Depress centre and high pressure fuel should spray out?
