With the arrival of pig, you may think I’ve forgotten about premium. I’ve not. I’ve been cracking on with details and have also been doing sanding and masking which is boring anyway.
I have re-veneered and tru oiled the walnut optional extras and the grey interior is actually being re coloured a darker grey (hard to notice on photos). I’ve even painted all grey plastic black including switches and re-labelled them all.
wrapped both the cubby box and gear knob in leather. Need some more veneer sheets to finish off the card inserts…

Continued colour changing is going well. You don’t realise how many bits of trim there are until you colour them all!

The grey is a shade or so darker than existing. It freshens it right up!

Door card below is after colour then sealer (cross link) coat. Centre panels are done in black with the veneer trims. Whole thing has lots of black accents added in. Really happy with it all.

I’m so glad you’re doing this car justice Ed. I really enjoyed owning and it’s awesome to see it getting so much detailed attention. You’ve managed to be very discreet about my bodges to the drivers footwell/inner wing too!

Really like the blue you’re going for and the details in the interior.

Cheers Rich. I’m enjoying it a lot. I don’t have loads of time but try and get bits done when. I can. There’s absolutely no rushing with this one and I take time with each task.

Ha, your temp fixes got it through though! Pulled boot floor carpet and was happy to see your plug welds etc. all looks tidy. I’ve still welding left to do - part of a sill, an arch and rear crossmember but have been focussed on the interior and the bodywork as I’m enjoying learning all that.

after using my other d1 a fair bit, I seem to actually prefer driving it to my new pickup! My hopes are to turn this D1 into my main daily. Was going to v8 her but again I like the 300 in my other one so why make more work!

The vermin hole being dealt with whilst I carry on with the rest of interior bits. May be a bit boring but keeps the thread up to date with the restoration requirements.

Should be a bigger update coming to this thread next week! 👀

Leather glued a cotton patch in with a cotton wod under. Then heavy filler, then flex fill filler. Will leave that alone for a bit before a sand and another flexfill

The dash has been ontop of the disco. It’s been slowly turning disgusting. It will obviously need cleaning painting for the new colour scheme.
Whilst cleaning earlier I noticed an issue! Seems the yanks didn’t have the light adjuster switch we did. So I can’t use the right hand one 🤦‍♂️

Small repair at lunch. The metal bracket that holds the stereo and centre vent panel had snapped off from the dash. I managed to bolt in a bit of metal so that it could be held in place again. Eliminating potential rattles.
The plastic here explodes if you look at it wrong. So brittle.

@Firebobby1 - you’re bahama beige aren’t you? Anyone else got a grey interior? I’ve just bought this just for the knob (hope 200 and 300 are same!) and the gaiter is really decent and original I think.

Finished fixing dash at lunch. You can see it’s just started to curl. The repair kit is on it’s way and will be much easier without the dash in the car!
