Hi folks picking up a TD4 GS Freelander today, and am new to 4x4's, wanted to know a couple of things, please.....

  • if I can fit a towbar myself (is it easy/difficult, specialist tools etc)?and
  • what sort of hybrid tyres anyone can anyone recommend to replace pure road tyres so occasional mud/snow journeys can be made (farm type tracks and snowed up tarmac)?
Thanks

Landie 9 thanks, appreciate your advice will look into,

we are now proud owners of a 2001 TD4 GS yeeha!

Welcome to the forum mate and well done on your new purchase.
The forum is a great place with lots of information, most people are willing to help and answer any questions you might have.

Just ignore the disco and defender retards, they have small dicks and can't respond in a "normal" fashion. Queue the retards.

Welcome Sprocket. It's always worth searching first as many questions have been done to death on the Forum, types of tyre being one of the most popular.

Be aware that different model LR owners dont consider the hippo as a proper Landie, mainly because it doesnt rust from under them ;)

Hi All
New to this i have a 1999 xedi station wagon freelander, prop shaft was taken off about 3 months ago on the advise of my wallet and it drives really better, now that the weather has gone worse than expected and now feel i should have it replaced, i have been looking at salvage yards and would like to know if any other freelander prop will fit or does it have to be for this particular model. many thanks

Why remove the old prop in the first place?.

freelanderr - bit cofusing with oyur post in this discussion, do you want to repost to main Freelander board mate?

Got confused when Big Phil mentioned props shafts, LOL  I've been asking tyre & towbar questions.

Anyway fellow freelanderers, turns out our Freelander of y reg vintage has 195/80R15 96 S Tyres---->
Front: Goodyear Wrangler HP All Weather
Rear: Zettex Rigger A/T

The rears look more the business for current weather conditon, the fronts less so.....any views comment before I shell out (rightly or wrongly) on more mud biased tyres....thanks ;)

No that one's hard work with the wiring .
Try to get one as my post above with the easy plug in electrics lead .
Mine is a genuine LR one ( ebay £80 ) and went strait on, some aftermarket one's don't always fit that well !
