Jumped into my beloved Defender and as I drove to work indicating right I heard the flasher fuse 21 Pop! I checked the flasher bulbs front and rear and it still popped the fuse. Later my wife took the Car into our trusted 4X4 dealer who quickly pointed out that the Scroats have gone in via the RH side flasher to sever the horn cable, he also pointed out they had tried to drill and prize the door lock unsuccessfully. I can only assume the low life bums were either disturbed or the spotted the steering lock, the Steering to handbrake chain. The PIR detector that sounds the house burglar alarm.

I am currently in the process of fitting visible dash mounted wireless camera, and an extra two PIR 500W Flood lights. Also I am well on with the fitting of an Alarm Dialler that will ring up to three mobiles when the car is disturbed.

Oh I almost forgot “Tracker Response”

Any one got any more ideas or have I gone over the top?

My last beloved Defender was stolen off my drive and never seen again!

The flashers popping the fuse is NOTHING to do with cutting the horn wire. I'll send you a pm.
 
other than having an angry dog in the back too, I think you'll have the most secure Defender anyone's ever seen



Better safe than sorry though!
 
Put the steering on full lock (or as near as possible) when you park, Then fit a disclock. It makes it extemely difficult (not impossible) to load on a flat bed. It also means that if the hi-ab brigade come along they will crush the wings in loading it so therefore making it a bit more obvious that it isn't a genuine tow away.
 
For mine, on recommendation from a few people here in the office and people I know I have ordered

A clutch claw
A Stoplock Ultima
Decoy alarm light
and will be fitting an engine cutoff switch, and possibly will be testing my phone based GPS tracking system in even of theft.
And lastly, I am debating a wheel clamp for when its sat for more than 3 or 4 days - altrhough due to the height of the vehiicle off the wheels this may be pointless

If they can take it with all that on it, they deserve it I guess!
 
Going along the tracker route can be expensive. I have one in mine done by a company called 3dtracking 3dtracking and they are really good. You pay a one off fee for the unit and then around £11 per month. If you Land Rover does get nicked then you can see where it goes. They do some clever motion detector thing so if the flatbed guys come along you'll know and and engine kill function.

Give um a bell about one. A friend recomended them to me and i'll always have one fitted to my Landie just for peace of mind, it really works and they're cheap!
 
A neighbour of mine had his 110 stolen from his drive last week, with all his tools on board. He's a tree surgeon, kind ****s torched it in Plymouth that night....
