terrafirma steering damper.

i have fitted a Terrafirma steering damper (from p38 spares) on to my 1999 p38, (4.6. hse),
thought i'd let you all know that it makes the steering a little bit more positive,
ie: not so light, and has helped someway's in improving the "tram lining" prevalent with the p38, it takes 15 mins to change,
now... has anyone fitted the heavy duty terrafirma shocks to a p38?,
(tf 125/tf 126), any info appreciated, thanx. shaun.

I fitted terrafirma shocks all round on a 1995 4.6 hse.
Also fitted Arnold 2 air suspension.
That combination gave a very firm, almost hard ride.
Just changed the vehicle for 2000 vogue and the ride is much smoother & nicer.
Would possibly consider OEM items next time so as not to change the ride characteristics.

6000 miles ago I fitted a Cellular steering damper which improved things but it didn't last.
Checked it a couple of weeks ago and it was doing nothing on the inward stroke. Very disappointed.
Replaced it with a Terafirma steering damper so, hoping for a longer useful life from it.
Steering feels better with it fitted.

I have just replaced my shocks with terrafirma ones as when the OEM ones got hot they bottomed out easily. I don't know if these are any better as I havn't had a chance to try them over rough roads for any length of time.

i fitted terrafima shocks to my last range p38 and loved em they took alot of the roll out of the body yes they were stiffer but found the ride alot better will be fitting some to the new one when i get round to it

fitted terrafima shocks to mine not long ago, find them on the hard side as mostly do tarmac roads, handling very good though
wish I had fitted boge

might actually do that next summer

many thanx guys, i much prefer a harder ride with 4x4s, more feedback and feel from the road, (i drive like i stole it) also thinking of going to 16" rims,
and edc cut and drilled discs etc,
dumping the side steps, adding "tree slider" bars, next week i hope.. and thinking of having an arb type bumper made, with an "a" bar, and steering guard..
and.. if anyone has other "mods" that work out good.. love to hear about them,

Cut and drilled discs are a total waste of cash on a Range Rover, the brakes are more than adequate as standard.

ahh datatek... you do have a lovely way of damping down optimism ...
i must let you know next time i'm driving down to spain, anywhere to
park a 17 mtr rig near you?, make you a nice cuppa..!!

If you can get it through the gate you can stick it on my parking area, electricity available if needed

If you want to spend money on your brakes you're better off replacing flexis, calipers, pads and discs. EDC stuff is good, and better than OEM on road, but if you're fitting rock sliders, steering guard etc. then it sounds like you're intending going off road where drilled and slotted discs would just fill with mud.

Surely you mean EBC? I second that, EBC pads are really good.

Koni pre-loaded dampers made a massive improvement to my 2001 p38. With the old OEM units, I felt every line and joint in the road and the tram lining was quite noticeable. Konis made it very useable. I haven't changed steering damper.
