Hi

Yesterday i connected my trailer and tested the lights before setting off only to find the left indicator on the vehicle comes on correct but the right indicator comes on the trailer..... and the otherside is the same.

Some have said it could be an earthing issue but any help where these are located so i can check? - or other suggestions to check?

thanks

Did it work properly before?
The bundle of connections are inside the back door, drivers side, behind the little diagonal cover panel, which will need to be removed. It might just be a case of swapping the left and right hand connections.

Hi, yes it worked fine before, but going on what you mentioned that drivers side panel fell off a week before this happened......sounds like it could be connected

It certainly does. Especially if the cables were tucked neatly back together to get the cover back on. They're bullet connectors with plastic, insulating sleeves. Sounds like you need to check them out and make sure they're clean, making a good contact and not shorting across each other due to perished insulation. Do one cable at a time so you don't get them mixed up!

where are the earthing points?

It probably isn’t an earth issue, as the indicators are working, but opposite. The easiest fix is just swap the wires inside the trailer connector, but that doesn’t answer the question of why did it work before, but not now?

The indicators are earthed via black wires in that bundle of wires I was talking about. It would be good to check they are all cleaned and electrically sound first. If the problem remains you could swap the two indicator feeds, as mick 1986 suggests, and see what happens.
