Continued to puzzle over this issue - went to YouTube and found this v helpful video by Britannica Restorations Ltd
This is EXACTLY what was going on with ours before I took the dash light bulb out to stop the problem.
We did have a repeater lamp out when we problem 1st came up.....
We picked up the new lamp for the repeater yesterday, so I tested out the whole thing today and yes the missing repeater *was* the problem.
Everything back in place now, dash light, indicators and everything so happy bunny.....
....until a final test through of all the lights and the stop lamps on both sides are now not working 🤬 The rear lights are ok, fog lamp, number plate lamp all good. Fuse ok.

That's the job for tomorrow!

Glad it’s sorted, told ya to check the side repeaters 😛

Happy New Year - a final post on this thread.
As said yesterday, we found a weirdness happening with the rear lights. On the light switch the rear LH LED lit up as it should, but rear RH light was showing the brake level of light. No response from either light to the brake pedal. Fuse was ok.
To cut a very long story short, finally discovered that the fuse connector had pushed too far in, so spade fuse did not connect properly, therefore brake light circuit not getting any power.
Reason for the RH rear showing up at brake light level was that the 2 green/purple wires in the RH rear bundle that come up had disconnected from each other. Presumably this had an impact on the amount of power getting to the RH rear light so the LED behaved as if they had the brake pedal depressed.
So it appears, 🤞, that we might have solved our little puzzle.
Thanks for all the input.
