Hi Guys, quick question.

My icarsoft 930 tells me that injector 1 has balance/contribution error. I don't have a problem changing this myself, but which is injector 1 as I look at it from the front of the car?

Cheers,
Alan

It's the one at the left hand end of the engine....the one nearest the drive belts and coolant reservoir. No. 4 is the one nearest the battery end.
:)

The injector is "Jacked out" using the retaining studs and a small Torx socket after removing the nuts. They can be a pain to remove and the spline end of the retaining/ jacking stud usually breaks off if you try to overdo it. put some Plus Gas down the Injector body where it goes into the cylinder head as they can be held with rust and leave it to soak. Another tip that has been posted on the forum is to slacken the injector retaining nuts off about 3-4 mm. and start the engine, the compression should break the hold on the injector shank enabling it to be extracted easier.
I broke the ends of about 4 of the studs when I removed mine but got a set of 8 new studs from Brit car, Part no.LR009825 Price around £36.00 incl VAT for the set. Some dealers try and charge £36.00 each!!! so get them from Britcar...they are genuine LR parts and called "Camshaft cover Pillar bolts"

Cheers Irishrover - I'll get the new bolt set and washers.

I don't suppose you know which bolt (or thread size) I need for the air intake manifold (Plenum chamber). It is the bolt on the bottom row, left hand side, with 11mm socket head (this is the single bolt, the others are studs in the head with nut which is removed).

I know that the nuts are M7 which is sort of non standard-but available off the likes of Ebay. It could be that the bolt is also M7, but not sure.

I was guessing at M7 as my M6 and M8 don't fit - and as a German engine are unlikely to be Whitworth or UNC - was just being a bit cheeky asking as you gave such a good reply to my original question :)

I'll buy a few bolts and post the size here - with the injector removal results.

Cheers,
Alan.

Just to put this to bed.......

The bottom left bolt on the inlet manifold is M7 - I used M7 x 50.

What setting on the icarsoft have you got it on for it to show the cylinder 1 inbalance error code?

Basically last week an 'auto logic' diagnostic tool showed a cylinder inbalance error.

I have tried the 'icarsoft cr plus' and tried to scan the td4 and no same error appears.

Did you have to update your software or dtc library?
