Is it the same bearing 606666g for the bottom pin?top and bottom, pins dont usually wear
Cheers, James. Yeah, once the top pin is out the swivel housing lifts off with the bottom pin in place. Saw that on the LR Toolbox videos. I've ordered some drifts off ebay to knock the races out.same pin, shims can be bought separately, you dont need to remove bottom pin to change the bearing or remove housing you only want 2-3lbs pull preload unlike top bush type
Me anorl. But, I've got an old black and decker workmateI would just love a work bench
usually on the vehicle@jamesmartin do you take the whole hub assembly off the axle and change the wheel and swivel bearings on a workbench or do you do it while on the vehicle?
Champion.usually on the vehicle
Do you mean the swivel pre-load?+1 on motor. You cannot set wheel bearings on a bench.
Make sure you have gloves.
Ah, with you. Yeah, I've set the wheel bearings up before, but not the swivel bearings. Looking forward to it.As @jamesmartin said swivel pins need a pre load. Can't be done on bench.
Bearings also need to be set after fitting. Don't ask me what it is.
Tighten up, spin wheel, slacken off quarter turn, check play. Bend lock tabs.
I can get a spring balance. You need a set of spring balance scales.
Look for a washer in the hole where the top swivel pin goes. Re use this as may not be one in the kit.
So you took yours off and pulled the drive shaft out etci did mine on the floor of the garage on an old table cloth!
Work bench lol, mines covered in loads of crap!!
So you took yours off and pulled the drive shaft out etc
