if you still want some rescue work there's a van blocking the flood on the A513 out of Tamworth towards Caton Hall - water was deeper and faster flowing than all the rivers on Strata Florida this weekend... even if the van hadn't been blocking the route i think i'd have turned back... didn't look good at all.

(van is abandoned, no-one trapped)
 
Ere Mr Deasy Sir, did you see on news on T'internet...couple got stuck in water under church lawford bridge...rescued by emergancy services at 2.30 am with hypothermia :eek:

Guess twas a bit more than a puddle and mr farmer's advice was right.

It is a low fat vegan friendly alternative to using butter when unsticking someone. They are a thoughtful bunch these emergency folks.

I know mate. Even if I had hot there and it was daft I wouldn't attempt it, even in the disco. Quick risk assessment!
It's not worth endangering people for the sake of it :)

You where first to step up and offer help which the op called off.
im sure if it wasnt called off you would be there right now accessing the risks
 
Seconded. At the end of the day what we are good at is pulling people out of mud, ditches, snow. Once you are into deep water that's rescue.

It does give me a little cause for concern. Obviously where I am is some distance from others on the list. With Worcester, upton on Severn and Tewksbury being serious flood areas if I am called upon its gonna be pretty lonely. Pretty understaffed between Worcester and Gloucester .

Thing is I don't have a garage etc or knowledge to do most of more serious things. Kinda worried at might fail if I get brave. Flipping belts were screaming a good un last night in floods.

I cant believe I'm actually reading this :eek:

Totally irresponsible of anyone to expect you lot to take such a risk in these circumstances. Might have been different if they were at risk of drowning, but even then its not worth someone elses life. And I am a horse owner.

A mare, even with a foal, out at grass will survive. If they are tough enough to live out then a few days without hay would not be the end of the world. Wild horses manage well enough.
