Hello mr noisey !! How are yer. Long time no hear. Question. As I have ex military defender with 2.5na. SLOW lol. I know u replaced the 200 Tdi with v8 petrol. It is 3.5cc ?? Enconmy ? I want to change engine but unsure if I want 200tdi or v8 petrol. Implications with insurance? Chassis engine mount change ? No oil cooler on v8 correct ? Can't decide to go diesel or petrol help lol !!

Just a thought.. the 2.5N/A is a good engine, it can be tuned up well.

Hi mate

Ahem, I have ALWAYS had v8, it's a factory v8 disco!

Yes it is a stock tune 3.5, goes alright, wouldn't mind some more power :p

Economy? More like expense!

Urm, motorway 65mph 19-20mpg, average 300mile laning trip 12-13mpg

It will be about double fuel costs of 200tdi but it has double cylinders so it is fair enough. And it goes BWARRRRR when you press the pedal hard enough.

Insurance no idea, your call.

Engine mounts need changing yes, aswell as gearbox or main shaft and bell housing

My 3.5 does not oil cool, 3.9 did, you could run a mocal but it depends how much you're screwing it, I have 4 row rad and she's nice and cool, 82 degree thermostat also :)

Weeks of hard work to get it prepped for today, was a fun day but I'm knackered from talking megasquirt to punters ALL day!

Why didn't you say hello I was on the stand almost all of the time! :eek:
 
Discomark10. Is tuning up something that home mechanic can do or diesel specialist ? Yes it is good engine. Bloody good. But slow and coupled with 1/6 transfer box. I want to add pas. Will do this spring. I'm in two minded. 1 keep the na engine as it has no turbo or oil cooler. Fair simpler. 2 go with 200tdi but has turbo. Dodgy lol.

Mr noisey. Oh u have had v8 in it. Ah. Bloody good pic.
 
I wasn't sure who to say hello to :). Was you in the blue jumper/shirt if so you was busy talking mega squirt to a whole bunch of people at the time. Plus the woman was moaning at the point. After a few hours of watching me dribble over lots of boring stuff she doesn't understand ha.

Next time I shall just shout Sam/noisy...
 
I've spent hours reading through this entire thread and I just want to say that your disco is absolutely stunning. It's a real credit to all the work you've done and it looks mint.

Spots are the 9" from bolt on bits

They're on eBay, about 60odd for 4, decided to get **** ones in case they get broken, tbh they are great on the road but are plastic casings so are a bit flimsy, as above though they could get smashed so I thought cheap is better, plus I'm skint :p

Got my 33" maxxis on today sam. Look great and what a dream on the road after those insa special tracks. Doing strata this weekend so will see how they perform on the rough stuff.
