Made up my own side exit exhaust for my 200tdi powered series 3 this weekend. I'm happy with it :)

Not that it will make any difference to a landy all exhaust bend should be curves not 90deg
It will restrict the gas flow but like I said not a big deal on a landy
Nice pipe given me some ideas for mine once I get the v8 in twin side pipes
You think it's a bit overboard if I use chrome side pipes like cobra lol
 
Yer I know a 90 bend isn't ideal but I thought as the pipe is as big a bore as the turbo outlet and theres no silencers to hinder flow it wouldn't really hurt much :p

It does seem a little slow too, I can't imagine the engine hauling a discovery around at an acceptable speed for a 90s 4x4.... My other car is 300hp so maybe I'm just asking too much from the old derv :p
 
If you have put a 200tdi onto the standard transmition and axles then it's gonna be about the same as it was with the standard engine
The 90 and disc use the lt77 and l230 transmition which has high gear ratios givin a better top end at lower engine speed

more impressed with the weld from from the mild to the cast. last one i made was from old propshafts and a turned flange for the turbo.
will try an find the pics i took.
 
Is'nt a pavement side exhaust illegal, on the basis of fumes being "bellowed" into cyclists/pedestrians etc.

Looks good, but just a thought.

had this at a tesing station years ago, tester had the book out to check.
he wanted to fail it, but couldnt find any info saying it cant be done.

so he had to pass it!
 
As far as I remember it don't matter where the exhaust exits the vehicle as long as the tail pipe end is flush or out from under the body and the nobody can cut orburn themselves on it as the pass
 
i've given up making exhausts... last one i made ended up coming off on the M1 the next day :(


Think i need to invest in a bigger welder!

Need one before the next MOT though as it's currently a bit short! :)
