Hi, I am looking at fitting a new stainless steel exhaust system on my petrol swb series 3 (84)
I have seen some on the web with big differences in price. It is not easy to see the quality differences.
Can anyone recommend a supplier for a good ss exhaust system

Poor quality Stainless steel exhaust

Just purchased new SS exhaust from a well known supplier and it looks to be very poor quality perhaps not even stainless steel. Certainly not chrome shinny as advertised. Has anyone else had issues.

Demand , had it on for 5yrs now still looks the same, good customer service lots of choice and advice

Hi, Have not replaced it yet. Have some other priorities at the moment. The exhaust from Demand Engineering Ltd look really good

My Stainless exhaust has a life time guarantee. The silencer box appear to have developed a split, is rattling and not sounding so good. It must be 15 years old now but the garage that fitted the exhaust closed down a years ago, so going back for the guarantee might be a problem.
A new generic stainless silencer is £187 and would need modification to fit. I feel that a stainless box is more prone to fatigue damage than a standard mild steel boxes. Plus a standard series diesel silencer is £49.
Instead of going back to full stainless, I plan to join the SS down pipe and tail pipe to the mild steel silencer. It looks the best long term answer.
