someones gonna get a cracking wtf thread when this thing changes hands.
edited for ****s and giggles.I don't think I could sell it on now! no one daft enough to buy it
Theres going to be a lot of snapped half shafts
Don't worry I've got some steam pipe coming! 6mm wall heavy gauge in 3" nominal bore should be plenty strong enough!
I was just going to bend it on a mandrel bender but if you can buy weld in elbows in those degrees that'll do me and be easier.
Gives me a chance to use the DC tig welder
I was planning a chamfered edge anyway if welding, I'd do at least 3 passes
One root pass with tig or a 1.6mm 7018 followed by two cup walking passes or cover passes with a 1/8th
Just make sure you have a welded in roll bar!
I've got plenty of 3/32nd rods but will probably buy a pack of sealed murex ones just to be safe!
Run on DC positive around 80A I'd guess seeing as I use 120A on AC. Was kinda thinking of leaving the welds seen as I can get a real nice fish scale if I walk the cup or do an overlapping stack of dimes if I go free hand
7018 should be smooth as a babies arse. stacked dimes is your 6011 type rod
Go to you tube they have some good welding pipe with 7018.
here is a good one for you.....Stick Welding 2 inch Pipe Cover Pass - 6g Pipe Welding Test 2" Schedule 80 - YouTube
Na not cage. Just a bar.
Doc i still have that pipe bender if you want. Think dad wanted £80. Never been used. Does up to 3" pipe
Don't use 6mm wall tube, this vehicle is going to weigh about 4 tons and will be no faster than a 2 1/4
Get a proper roll cage in kit form and weld it up yourself. 3.2 blue band or 2.5 cds.
