I've ordered the timken set for the front, just looked at the rear casing and the whole taper units still in there so presume that'll be fine to reuse

Cool, thats fine then. Rear ones not damaged so will just reuse that and then use the new front one
Found the rear nut torque setting its 220NM presume with loctite too

Yeah I saw that bit but there was some crap on the threads which looked like loctite if thats excessive then wont bother with it

Gearbox back together, flywheel switched over, few new parts picked up for the weekend too

Pinion off
New pinion ready
New bearing race sorted out
Got the new pinion off then remembered I hadn't put the bearing onto the shaft.......
Little bit later with the new front housing on.....got to put some RTV on it later and bolt together fully as its only held together with a few now

Box back together I need to torque up the front cover, fit the bellhousing and sort the gear selector tomorrow

is that stuff oil,grease proof?
TIGER SEAL urethane sealant and adhesive can be used on
the following surfaces:-
• Steel, aluminum, brass, iron.
• Fiber Glass. • Most plastics.
• Glass.
• Wood.
• Ceramics.
• Paint.
Surfaces should be clean and dry and free from
grease.

now he has is v8 running and killed 3 or 4 in the process, now he is concentrating his efforts on killing gearboxes and using sealant that don't seal against grease and oil top work doc

don't know mind, it's not designed to be resistant to oil. (edit: looks like it will be fine though)
for my peace of mind, i'd take it off and use rtv or hylomar blue.
also, it does look pretty thick. ideally you want as thin a coating as you can get away with, else it will squeeze out and possibly drop inside.
but remember it is used as an over paintable glue for sticking body panels together.

I tigersealed a hard to seal rocker cover onto a 106 engine, when I came to remove it I broke the cover before the tiger gave up

can you paint the whole box white so leaks are easier to spot?

and how do you figure when the manufacture says different??????? Tiger seal say not for grease and oil. That transmission will leak oil like a sieve and have water contamination in short order
